10 Best Beauty Box Subscriptions, Tested and Reviewed (2024)

I am a big Support healing yourself. I think everyone should have more little gifts, all the time. A monthly beauty box subscription guarantees you’ll receive a little box of happiness at your doorstep once a month. Whether the fun is focused on sample sizes, full-size products, cosmetics, skin care or bath and body products, much depends on the service you choose. But I’ve tried a bunch of different services for a few months and these are the best I’ve found.

Is a beauty box worth buying?

wired: Beauty boxes are a great way to discover new products, and they’re often a better value than buying the products individually. The dopamine rush you get from receiving a gift each month is immeasurable. (Or maybe literally, you can, but I still think it’s priceless.) Products that don’t work for you would make great gifts or donation items.

Tired: Some beauty boxes contain many small plastic bottles and tubes that are not environmentally friendly, are bulky and difficult to recycle. You may receive products that aren’t suitable for your hair or skin type, or that don’t work at all. Most beauty boxes don’t allow for any customization – what you get is truly a surprise.

I contacted the popular service and asked to test out at least a month’s worth of boxes, but preferably three months’ worth. I compared the value of the items included with the cost of the box itself. I also documented the overall variety and possibilities for what the average person can use, weighing up specialized products and those that suit most people. Yes, I put all these pretty little potions on my actual face, hair, and skin. During this difficult time, please do not ask me about the condition of my bathroom countertop.

Note that some brands offer single-use boxes that can be purchased outside of a subscription. I have not tested these or considered them part of the standard for this guide.
