This holiday season is the swan song for the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo told us as much when talking about the long-awaited Switch successor To be announced in April 2025. But thankfully Nintendo isn’t running into old age as it looks to launch a Switch sequel, as 2024 has seen a slew of great games arrive on the nearly eight-year-old console. So let’s take a look back at some of our favorite games coming to Switch in 2024. Ever since Nintendo confirmed that its next generation will be backwards compatible. (Hopefully, if we’re lucky, any performance issues with the game on the current Switch will be ironed out when played on the next model.)

The game’s key mechanics feel frantic and extremely rewarding as you expertly traverse the world’s obstacles via violent paths of drills and fallen enemies. Then it ups the ante by adding a grappling hook. Keep my beating heart. (No, really, fast movements sometimes get my heart rate up—in a funny way, not an alarming way.)
