5 Tech Gifts To Light Up Their Holidays
Well, it’s that time of year again. Like you, I’m dealing with the gift-giving part of the holidays. I used to send Amazon gift cards until one was stolen. I got no sympathy or refund from Amazon, so I decided to avoid store gift cards altogether. So, I’m back to sending people things I think they might want, and this week, I’m sharing my list of tech gadgets that make great gifts.
I’ll end with my last product of the week for 2024, a new off-road electric motorcycle from Dust Moto that’s coming next year and is being built virtually in my backyard.
Dyson supersonic hair dryer
Do you have a special lady in your life? Wife, sister, mother, daughter or girlfriend? Well, the best, but far from the cheapest hair dryer I’ve found is Dyson Supersonic. It normally sells for about $430, but I found it on sale for $329. I bought one for my wife and she loved it, so I bought one for my sister this year, but don’t tell her!
This hair dryer is relatively small and easy to pack. It’s fast and holds up well. We haven’t had any issues so far.
The Supersonic uses Dyson’s unique design that draws air from the lower part of the handle so it’s less likely to trap your hair, and it adjusts for every hair type, making it extremely flexible. It does come with a lot of accessories, which is typical of anything Dyson makes. Don’t ask me to explain all the features as I don’t use them myself.
This is a gift I would give to someone you care about because it is well made and expensive. They’re less likely to buy it for themselves, and they’ll probably miss you when they blow-dry their hair.
Nixplay digital touch screen photo frame
For the elders in your life (parents, grandparents, uncles or aunts) who may not be tech-savvy but love family photos, consider a digital photo frame that comes pre-installed with family photos. When connected to the network, it’s like Nixplay digital touch screen photo frameonce your device is set up, you can update your photo playlist from the comfort of your couch.
Yes, you have to make sure the recipient’s Wi-Fi is working, which is a good reason to access rather than just send mail. Measuring 10.1 inches and priced at about $140 (the 15-inch model currently sells for $244), it’s not too big for a nightstand and works with both iOS and Android phones.
While they say grandma can upload photos to a frame, it’s best to manage it yourself. Regularly updating your pictures can turn your frames into a constant surprise and a reminder that you are thinking of them. Parents often struggle to feel connected after their children move out, especially when those children have families of their own. This gift can help bridge that gap as a simple yet meaningful way to show you care.
70mai driving recorder all-rounder
I was in a terrible car accident last year where the airbag knocked me down and broke my back. I have little memory of the accident because I was hit so hard, but my 70mai driving recorder all-rounder The entire event was captured so I was able to go back and learn from it.
What makes this dash cam unique is that it has a swivel head like the R2D2, so you don’t have to have a rearview camera. It will follow the action from side to side, capturing the entire event. It also logs people messing with your car while parked. While it’s not as well-equipped as Teslas typically come with, for those of us who don’t drive a Tesla, it’s a great way to record your driving.

It also allows you to get rid of fake tickets. I was in this situation a few years ago and the officer said I was running 90 degrees on the open road. I didn’t, and I was in heavy traffic. My word was against his, and he won. If I had had this camera, that ticket would have paid for itself.
This dash cam can also reinforce the need for safer driving, given that the record you build can be used against you. If you have children borrowing your car, you may want to consider this to prevent them from doing something stupid. At $200, it’s one of the most reasonable dash cams available.
Oh, and there are a lot of insurance scammers out there who will get back in your car and scream that you rear-ended them, or jump in front of your car and claim you didn’t yield. This camera can help you get out of these situations too.
VolteX heated scarf
Living in Bend, Oregon, where winters can be brutal, I’ve come to appreciate heated gear. this VolteX heated scarf One of the simplest self-heating items on the market.
At less than $17, this is a convenient gift for those on a budget. You have to charge it, but it heats up almost instantly once turned on, and has three heat settings (just like my heated car seats).
The scarf is fluffy and feels great around your neck. I bought one this year because she hates the cold. She can leave it in the car and plug it into the car’s electrical system so it’s always ready to deal with the cold when a little instant warmth is needed.
It’s very portable, so you can take it with you, but since it has a battery, you’ll need to take it on the plane instead of leaving it in your luggage. It comes in brown, black, gray or white. I ended up buying two in different colors because I wanted to wear one too.
Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses
Given the political tension in the air, things are getting a little crazy. I’ve been in a few situations where I wanted to record what was going on, but didn’t want to experience the rage that usually comes when you use your smartphone to capture someone breaking the law or behaving badly. Additionally, recording video with an action camera often doesn’t provide the same view of you because the camera is positioned somewhere other than your face.
Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses There’s a great camera in there. They can also replace your earbuds if you like to go for walks, listen to music or audiobooks, or have messages read to you while you do other things like running. Glasses come in many styles and require prescription lenses.

The camera is well hidden, so you don’t have to worry about the issues you had with older Google Glass headsets. While base prices currently range from $299 to $379, these glasses may be just what your loved one needs when something really good or really bad happens to them and you want to create a lasting record of.

I hope this list is helpful with your holiday shopping choices. Putting it all together helped me make something of my own this year. I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
Dust Moto’s high-tail all-electric off-road bike
Hightail all-electric off-road vehicle (Image source: Dust Moto)
Although I no longer ride, I once owned a Suzuki 125 and a Yamaha 175. The 125 was my school motorcycle and the 175 was a motocross bike. The problem with gas bikes when you’re riding in the wilderness is that they make a lot of noise and require revs to provide torque. This means you’ll miss out on a lot of natural sounds, and when you get into trouble, such as on a steep hill, you may end up spinning the wheels while trying to build up enough torque to climb the hill.
The Dust Moto is expected to be priced at $10,950 and will be released in late 2025 High-tail all-electric off-road vehicle Simply awesome. While it’s not street legal, at least not yet, it’s a monster choice when it comes to off-road riding. It has a very clean design, and it was created by people who also enjoy riding outdoors – and we have a lot of those here in Oregon. Their experience is reflected in the design and construction of this bike.
With 42 hp and 660 Nm of torque, it can run for up to two hours on a single charge. Plus, it comes with a replaceable battery so you can bring a spare. It was created with the backing of Bloom (a company that specializes in electric motorcycles), so while this is Dust Moto’s first bike, it’s not Bloom’s first, so you can trust that this bike will Does everything it claims and more.
Designed to be within walking distance of me, this would be on my Christmas 2025 shortlist if I were still riding. Therefore, Dust Moto’s Hightail all-electric dirt bike is my last product of the week for 2024, although it won’t be on my Christmas list until 2025 when the bike becomes available.
