We’ve officially ushered in 2025, and as the new year begins, we’re expecting a slew of big tech announcements from big brands. I’d say 2024 was the first really strong year for Windows on Arm laptops and I have laptops (And AI in general), and I expect 2025 to be even better.
All of the technologies we’ve compiled here will likely be released in early 2025, but there are no official release dates for any of the products yet. However, let’s get straight to the point.
Nvidia 50-series GPUs
New generation games have appeared for laptops. Well, not yet, but soon! Nvidia 50-series GPUs (RTX 5070, 5080, 5090, etc.) have recently started appearing in leaks online.
The earliest we could see a 50-series GPU in action is Asus V CES 2025. Screenshots of online store listings were taken VideoKardzand they revealed new Asus laptops with AMD Strix processors and Nvidia 50-series GPUs were on track for spring 2025.
Asus has almost confirmed this leak with X post the inscription “New STRIX, January 6, 20:00 Pacific Time” with a teaser of the future ROG Strix laptop.
Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite 2
Qualcomm had quite a successful 2024 in the laptop world, all thanks to the first-generation Snapdragon X Elite chipset, which finally graced Windows laptops with strong performance and long battery life. In early 2025, we hope to see an even more impressive second-generation Snapdragon X Elite.
We’re still missing some information about Qualcomm’s upcoming successor to its successful Windows on Arm chip, but we can fill in some gaps thanks to Snapdragon X Elite 2 Rumors We’ve gathered for now.
New AMD CPUs/GPUs
Like clockwork, we should see new CPUs and GPUs from AMD in 2025, perhaps already KES 2025. AMD will speak at CES 2025 on Monday, January 6 at 11 a.m. PT (2 p.m. ET), and there’s a good chance we’ll hear about the company’s new chips and plans for 2025.
In the meantime, check out everything we know about New flagship AMD Strix Halo processor.
Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo Switch launched almost 8 years ago. While this is a fairly standard gap between Nintendo console generations, I’m more than willing to trade in my old Switch for a new one in early 2025.
Nintendo’s president has confirmed that the successor to the Switch that everyone is calling Switch 2will be announced before the end of the financial year (March 31, 2025). A release date has yet to be confirmed or announced, but an announcement could come as early as this month. March 3, 2025 will mark exactly 8 years since the release of the original Switch, so early March is a reasonable time to circle it on your calendar.
Samsung headset and glasses
2025 could be the year Samsung enters the smart glasses market with the help of Qualcomm and Google. Samsung glasses may be revealed at the company’s semi-annual Galaxy Unpacked event in January, which will prove to be stiff competition for Successful Ray-Ban smart glasses from Meta.
In addition to the first pair of Samsung smart glasses, there are also XR headset collaboration between Samsung and Google look forward to it. Called Project Moohan, the headset resembles AppleThe company’s Vision Pro can switch between full VR and mixed reality modes and supposedly offers increased comfort.
MacBook Air M4
Apple released the core M4 chip for the first time in iPad Proand has since equipped it with the latest MacBook Pro models with M4 series chips, including M4, M4 Pro and M4 Max. Next, MacBook Air based on M4.
Best guess for M4 MacBook Air The launch date is somewhere between January and March, according to X message from BloombergMark Gurman. Considering the M3 MacBook Air currently tops our best laptops list, we’re definitely excited to get our hands on the next-generation MacBook Air and see how it performs.
Samsung Galaxy S25
2025 is shaping up to be a big year for Samsung, with the potential release of smart glasses, an XR headset and, of course, the annual update to its flagship phone with killer cameras: the Galaxy S25.
Based on Samsung Galaxy S25 Rumors As we’ve already heard, it’s entirely possible that the phone will launch in late January or early February. With the company holding its semi-annual Galaxy Unpacked event in January, this would be the perfect time to unveil the Galaxy S25 for the first time (fingers crossed).
