The first full working week of the year has ended, it’s time to relax and enjoy a whole range of new films and TV shows around the world best streaming services.
Admittedly, there aren’t many new movies for movie buffs to enjoy, but instead there are plenty of new series you can watch. From new dramas based on Netflix and Max to the return of a popular reality show, I’m sure you’ll find something worth watching this weekend from this week’s lineup of offerings. Have fun! – Tom Power, Senior Entertainment Reporter
American Primitive (Netflix)
Neo-Western dramas have taken over the streaming world such as Yellowstone and its subsequent side effects 1883 And 1923 Now, Netflix caught the genre hype with his new show American Primitive.
Unlike Yellowstone, primitive America lacks a modern interpretation and is instead a harrowing dramatization of the birth of the American West. The story takes place in 1857 during the Utah War. It chronicles the violent clash between culture, society and politics as men and women fight for control of the land in a brutal new world. Coming out of the trailer American Primitive this will be a brutal and bloody watch, so if you’re looking for a darker alternative Yellowstone, you may have found your match. We’ll have to wait and see if he becomes one of the best netflix showsAlthough. – Grace Morris, entertainment writer
Traitors Season 3 (Peacock)
The UK edition of the third season of this exciting reality show began airing on BBC One just after the New Year. Now American audiences can enjoy the thrill of betrayal and treachery in the American version of the game. Traitorswhose third season is finally out on Peacock.
Award-winning actor Alan Cummings will again host. Traitors Season 3 will see a new gang of contestants compete for the show’s cash prize while trying to deceive their fellow players. Once divided into two groups – “Traitors” and “Loyal” – participants will have to work together to eliminate the other team in order to win their share of the cash pool. I loved what the UK version had to offer this season, so I hope its US counterpart delivers the same shocking moments. – TP
Pitt (Max)
Maxnew medical drama caught my eye when I wrote about Pittas exciting new trailer at the end of 2024. In it IS Star Noah Wyle returns to his hospital duties and leads the cast of the 15-episode series. This also sounds like a promising thing since it was produced by West wingJohn Wells and promises to show a “realistic study” of what healthcare workers experience in a modern hospital in Pittsburgh.
There are plenty of medical dramas on offer, my favorite continues to be House – There is an interesting twist here. Pitt occurs during one emergency department shift, with each episode taking one hour within the hospital walls. It is structurally identical to the Keifer Sutherland-led series. 24, and I’m very happy about it. With such an intriguing premise, I really hope we can add it to our Max’s best shows round up – Lucy Buglass, Senior Entertainment Writer
Dave’s Bank 2: Credit Ranger (Netflix)
As I mentioned in my Dave’s Bank: Credit Ranger trailer reaction.piece, I liked the original Netflix movie. After putting it on for some light afternoon viewing, I was soon drawn into Dave Fishwick’s story, beautifully narrated by Def Leppard (who also make a cameo!). The first film tells the story of how businessman Dave founded a community bank, which he created as an alternative to the big banks with the goal of helping the city’s local businesses.
This time, he has a new enemy in payday lenders. As you can see from the trailer, Dave highlights the devastating effect they’ve had on his local community and beyond, and sets out to challenge them. He teams up with unexpected allies and I can’t wait to see more of Dave’s story, played by the always brilliant Rory Kinnear, who we last saw in Rings of Power Season 2. I don’t expect Bank of Dave 2 to join ours best netflix movies guide, but he will definitely leave a lasting impression on me. – LB
Goosebumps: Vanishing (Disney Plus/Hulu)
If you liked the most recent one Goosebumps adaptation to Disney Plus And Huluyou won’t want to miss this sequel. I loved what Disney did with their first TV adaptation of R.L. Stine’s beloved teen horror novels, which had something new while still featuring the existing monsters and props that make it so unique. Goosebumps. There’s a huge new name attached to it. Disappearancealso with Friends star David Schwimmer joins Goosebumps throw as Anthony, a recently divorced father whose children don’t want to spend much time with him.
But there is a good reason for this. Anthony’s son Devin, along with his sister Cece and a group of friends, begin to investigate a series of disappearances that occurred in the 90s, which ultimately take a very dark turn. Considering how impressed I was with the first season, I’m really looking forward to this one. I hope this will be another worthy entry in our best Disney Plus shows And best hulu shows raids. – LB
On call (Prime Video)
Prime Videolatest TV original On call It’s an adrenaline junkie’s dream and brings a thrilling twist to the police drama genre. Really, On call It’s not just about the whodunnit and murder mysteries you see in a typical police procedural – instead it’s a visceral look at the patrol side of police work, using hand-held cameras, body cameras and dash cams to create a movie-truth effect.
On call follows veteran police officer Tracy Harmon (Troian Bellisario) and her training partner Alex Diaz (Brandon Larracuente) as they respond to emergencies in Long Beach, California. With an interesting twist on the dynamic part of law enforcement. On call definitely sounds like an intriguing watch Amazonstreaming platform and could potentially become one of Prime Video’s best shows years at the moment. – GM
Jerry Springer: Fighting, Camera, Action (Netflix)
Jerry Springer: fights, camera, action is a two-part documentary that goes behind the scenes of America’s most controversial talk show and reveals its huge scandals both on and off camera. The documentary also explores the show’s origins and meteoric rise, using exclusive testimonies from show insiders, producers and former guests who reveal its dark and destructive secrets.
With an 86% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Jerry Springer: fights, camera, action looks like it will be included in our best Netflix documentaries guide. I’m a fan of trash TV and judging by this great look, maybe That the cheesiest of them all, it will be interesting to see the dark backstory behind the entertainment factor. – GM
