The Ultimate Mini has the same layout as the larger Xbox controller, but the action buttons, D-pad, and its anti-drift magnetic Hall-effect joysticks are positioned closer together. There’s also a Hall-effect trigger on the back, as well as a pair of slightly smaller shoulder buttons.

A ring of LEDs around each joystick provides different interactive lighting modes.

It comes with a white, pink or green translucent casing, which makes the light from the LED ring around each joystick more visible. Called “Ring of Fire,” there are various lighting modes that can react to various button presses by flashing, cycle through different colors, or follow the direction of each joystick push.

8Bitdo Ultimate Mini is compatible with Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, and computers running Windows 10 or 11. However, if you have kids who are prone to quitting games and throwing away controllers out of anger, they may want to think twice about using a gamepad that is physically attached to the console and doesn’t have a detachable connector.
