A colorful Android Auto Material You upgrade is on the way

Such user interfaces need to be understood immediately, and subtle cues like color can really help convey information as fast as our eyes can see it. Android Auto is currently getting a version 13.4 update, as the staff says 9 to 5 google Found out that this version does a lot of Material You coloring in the system UI. If you use your phone’s wallpaper to generate a palette of accent colors, Android Auto will recognize those colors when you connect and start using them on your screen.

You’ll notice that the Material You color is spread throughout Android Auto’s interface, rather than the default blue being everywhere, like the warm brown tones you see above. It sounds like this adaptation is still a work in progress, and 9 to 5 google Note that when changing colors on your phone it will sometimes get out of sync, but if you don’t change these colors often you should be fine.

Media apps have already taken an early role in this, with the ability to match colors to album art, but this update represents a wider acceptance of Material You coloring. Importantly, these colors appear to have only been extended to Android Auto itself and have not yet affected the way third-party apps are displayed.
