
A native Star Fox 64 port just barrel-rolled onto PC

The native port of Star Fox 64 has just landed on PC, just in time for the holidays. Harbor Masters 64, behind other teams Native N64 port “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” and “Majora’s Mask” were decompiled from the original source code, allowing this classic game to transcend the limitations of N64 hardware.
It’s called Starship, and it takes just a few minutes to set up. All you need is a ROM of the original game (from your own physical collection, of course) that matches the hash value of the 1.1 US version. Then, download the latest resources from GitHub pageplace the ROM in the same directory, execute the executable, and you’re good to go.
Starship supports 2x magnification, widescreen output, cheats, and more.
The result has several enhancements compared to the N64 version, including upgraded graphics (up to 2x), widescreen output support, up to 360fps, cheats, and more.
I found the preset controls to be terrible, but you can remap everything to a controller in the settings for a better experience. Regardless, it runs much better than the Nintendo 64 emulator, as the console’s unique hardware makes it difficult to emulate. But to be fair, the game also ran poorly on original hardware.
Currently, Starship doesn’t have a native Android version, but if it’s anything like the team’s previous efforts, it’s only a matter of time. this majora’s mask portLaunched earlier this year, it’s completely playable on Android and runs like a dream. This is also just the initial public release, so further improvements are expected in the coming months.
