- Some monthly fees for Adobe Photography plans will increase
- The cheapest option will no longer be available to new users
- Changes effective January 15, 2025
If you sign up for one of these, be prepared for price increases adobe Photoshop or Lightroom Photography Plan – These subscription options only give you access to the Photos app, not the entire Creative Cloud.
according to Adobe Blog (via Gigapixel), these new prices are effective from January 15, 2025. Long story short: Users who currently pay the minimum to Adobe will have to fork out more cash, or start paying annually.
A photography plan with 20GB of storage (including Photoshop, Lightroom, and Lightroom Classic) will cost $14.99 per month instead of $9.99 per month, an increase of more than 50%. You’ll need to commit for one year ($179.88) or pay an unspecified termination fee, or switch to the $119.88 per year plan, which stays the same (and locks you in for longer).
On top of that, this cheapest plan is going away and won’t be available to new subscribers next year, so these changes will only apply to existing subscribers. If you sign up for Photoshop after January 15th, the cheapest option will be twice as much as it is today (although you do get 50x the cloud storage).
rise
There are no changes to the more expensive monthly ($19.99) or annual ($239.88) photography plans with 1TB of storage, which of course will generate more revenue for Adobe. As mentioned above, starting January 15th, these plans will be the only way to get just Photoshop without the rest of Creative Cloud.
The price for the Lightroom-only plan with 1TB of storage is also rising, but you’ll now get Lightroom Classic and Lightroom. Going forward you’ll pay $11.99 per month instead of $9.99 per month, so it’s 20% more expensive. Again, you need to commit for one year ($143.88) or you’ll pay a penalty.
Adobe wants you to lock yourself into a $119.88 per year plan, which remains the same cost. If these prices are a bit too steep for you right now, then you might want to check out our guide Best Adobe Lightroom Alternatives and The Best Adobe Photoshop Alternatives.
These new prices “better reflect the value the app provides” Adobe saysnoting that Photoshop has not raised subscription prices since it started requiring continuous monthly or annual payments rather than a one-time payment for each version. If you are an existing subscriber, keep an eye out for emails from Adobe as your renewal time approaches.
