How the Acrobat AI Assistant chatbot works

Acrobat AI Assistant is easy to use and find: just open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat or Reader. Then, click the colored “AI Assistant” button on the toolbar. Adobe’s AI chatbot will open in the sidebar, providing you with a summary of the file and suggesting questions. You can also click the “Generate Summary” button in the “All Tools” sidebar to get an immediate summary of your document.

It can handle PDFs up to 600 pages long, and you can add additional PDFs using the “Add File” button. In total, you can provide up to 10 PDF files to Adobe AI Assistant at one time. You can then ask questions and get answers based on all the documents you provide.

In my experience, Acrobat AI Assistant generally works well. This is not surprising since it uses GPT 4o technology under the hood. The answers it provides are very similar to what you’d get from ChatGPT—exactly what those looking to integrate artificial intelligence into productivity apps are looking for.
