AI-powered tools are transforming software development

Artificial intelligence is changing the industry approach complex problemsespecially in software development. With the advent of AI-powered tools, developers are finding new ways to streamline workflows, solve problems, and create faster, smarter applications.

New computers with artificial intelligence and Dell Pro AI Studio from Dell Technologies Inc. are designed to solve many of the problems developers face by simplifying processes and eliminating bottlenecks.

Dell’s Mark Hammons talks to theCUBE about the challenges of working across multiple toolchains and platforms and how AI-powered tools can solve them.

“As you know, it’s been a fantastic year for AI, especially for PC AI – it’s kind of new to the market,” said Mark Hammons (pictured), Senior Distinguished Engineer at Dell Technologies. “For many years we have had IHVs with excellent CPU and GPU performance, but now there is a new component… a neural processor. [Dell Pro AI Studio is] I’m going to put it on top and make it easier for developers.”

Hammons spoke with theCUBE Savannah Peterson For Dell Bet Big on AI Computers at CES 2025during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s live-streaming studio. Hammons spoke about AI-powered tools and the challenges of working across multiple toolchains and platforms, highlighting how Dell’s innovations are designed to remove these barriers and provide solutions tailored to enterprise use cases. Simplify software development with AI-powered tools

One of the biggest challenges in AI development is managing the diversity of tools, frameworks, and models. Dell Pro AI Studio helps solve this problem by curating proven AI models and providing reference code to help developers run projects more efficiently. According to Hammons, this approach significantly reduces time to market for applications.

“We’ll turn them off, look at them, build some reference code around them, kind of pump up the tires and figure out what works well,” he said. “Maybe you’re trying to achieve ultra-high resolution; You may be doing an image search. We’ll do the hunting and pecking and create these things for you and make them available as part of Dell Pro AI Studio.”

Another outstanding feature of AI Studio is its ability to work offline, offering real-time problem solving for field conditions. Hammons described scenarios in which artificially intelligent computers could act as agents, providing solutions on the spot without requiring a network connection.

“You can imagine that you have everything you need right here in the system… and right there, without being connected to the network, it can prepare an answer that will help drive that conversation,” Hammons shared.

Going beyond immediate use cases, tools like Dell’s Pro AI Studio help democratize expertise by making advanced resources more accessible. By focusing on practical solutions, Dell’s AI innovations empower developers to solve complex problems more effectively while also expanding access to cutting-edge technologies, Hammons said.

“With AI, you suddenly have an expert at your disposal,” he said. “And when you take that and apply the creative powers that we all have, suddenly you can do all sorts of things that you’ve never been able to do before.”
