Apple is expected to release the AirTag 2 next year, and there are already rumors that the project tracker will have some new features and changes.

The chip debuted in the iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 last year, and Apple says it offers three times the range of the first-generation ultra-wideband chip currently in AirTags. On iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models, there’s Pinpoint Finder, which can help you find your friends in busy places with a range of up to about 60 meters (about 200 feet). The new AirTags could provide similar range.
