All the Top CPU and GPU News From CES 2025
Here’s what will happen in the first and second quarters of 2025. Full information can be found. Here And Here.
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
This is AMD’s fastest and most advanced processor today, with 16 or 12 cores, specifically designed for creators and (especially) gamers. AMD says the new chip will deliver an average 8 percent improvement in gaming performance and a 10 percent improvement in other tasks.
AMD Ryzen AI 5, AI 7 and AI Max
The Ryzen AI chip is not an NPU, but rather a processor tuned for overall performance, including AI workloads. The first Ryzen AI processor, the Ryzen AI 300, was released in late 2024, and there will soon be a number of much faster follow-on processors, culminating in the Ryzen AI Max (available in seven different SKUs). With 16 cores and support for 128GB of memory, AMD claims AI Max delivers 50 TOPS NPU performance. AMD naturally says that the Max is incredibly fast at handling all sorts of tasks, and boldly claims that it can rival Apple’s M4 processor in some of them. Ryzen AI chips will also appear in mini PC designs.
AMD Radeon RX 9070 series
AMD hasn’t revealed any details about what its latest GPU will feature, other than that the 9070 line is aimed at mid-range users. What’s more noteworthy is that AMD’s naming scheme is evolving to more closely match how Nvidia names its products. The 9070 and 9070 XT will launch this quarter.
Nvidia
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang took the stage in a sparkly jacket and spent about two hours laying out the company’s immediate plans – and, as expected, almost all of them are dedicated to artificial intelligence. But the report said quite a bit about the regular Nvidia GPUs that include these new capabilities. Full information can be found Here And Here.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series
Surprising no one, Nvidia announced a new GeForce RTX 50 series GPU. These GPUs will be available on desktops at the end of January 2025. The big advance is Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) 4 and Multi Frame Generation technology, which instead uses artificial intelligence techniques to generate part of a stream of pixels. using brute force tactics, which greatly improves productivity. Huang says the new graphics card has up to 4,000 TOPS AI power. The top-tier card in the series, the 5090, will cost just $1,999.
The RTX 50 series will also be reduced for use on laptops starting in March 2025. You’ll get a little less than half the performance from the mobile version compared to the desktop version, but Huang says the AI will make sure your laptop doesn’t melt. while you are using it. Laptops with RTX 50 will be priced as high as $2,899, delivering a maximum power of 1,850 AI TOPS.
Nvidia GB10
This is the basis for Nvidia Project Figuresa “personal AI supercomputer” that will bring Nvidia Blackwell’s AI platform to the masses. Want to run output on your desktop offline? Digits and the GB10 “AI superchip” will make this possible – with 1 petaflops (1000 TOPS) performance. The system will cost a minimum of $3,000 and will be available in May 2025.
