AMD RDNA 4 GPUs will allegedly be rebranded RX 9000 — A mixture of new RDNA 3/RDNA 4 mobile GPUs and an RX 7000 refresh is expected to arrive at CES

Following the rebranding of its mobile APU series as “Ryzen AI,” AMD is said to be changing its APU naming convention. Radeon RDNA 4-series GPUs will allegedly adopt the RX 9000 moniker, according to well-known leaker Wasilin and momomo_us. This rumor is further supported by information shared by: All wattageswhich is a massive catalog of GPUs that AMD may reveal at CES next month.

The new naming convention uses the X0X0 pattern, where X is a wildcard character, in stark contrast to AMD’s existing XX00 scheme. Likewise, to further differentiate the architectures, future RDNA 3.5 GPUs like Strix Halo should launch under the RX 8000 series, while the RX 9000 series is reserved for RDNA 4 GPUs. As far as we know, the successor of RX 7600 should be named RX 9060. This suggests that AMD may not only be renaming its products, but also remapping them (RX 8800 XT -> RX 9070 XT), although we won’t know for sure until official confirmation from the chipmaker.
