American Airlines resumes flights across the US following ‘technical issues’

American Airlines temporarily grounded all flights in the United States this morning due to unspecified technical issues, disrupting travel at the start of a busy Christmas Eve period. Service has now resumed at 8 a.m. ET, according to a statement American Airlines spokesperson Sarah Jantz told CNN.

The airline has not yet detailed what caused the technical issues.

“All American Airlines flights are currently experiencing technical issues,” American Airlines said. In a statement about X before flights resume. “Your safety is our top priority and once the issue has been rectified we will get you safely to your destination.”
