Japan’s updates in April
Separately, Apple has detailed upcoming changes that will occur in Japan on April 1.
As a result of last year’s changes to Japan’s tax standards, Apple (through iTunes KK in Japan) is currently designated as the specified platform operator by the tax authority of Japan. All paid applications and purchases in the application (including game products, such as coins) sold by Japanese developers in the App Store in Japan, will be subjected to the tax regime of the platform. Apple will collect and transfer 10% of the Japanese language consumption (JCT) to the National Tax Agency of Japan for such operations at the time of purchase.
