Apple and Goldman Sachs allow Apple Card customers affected by the Los Angeles fires may temporarily defer their payments if necessary. Details about Apple’s disaster relief program for Apple Card users shared Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.

Payment deferrals are being offered to Apple Card users living in an area declared a national disaster area by FEMA, with Apple sending notices to affected customers.

Those affected by the fires may miss a payment due in the month in which they participate in the Assistance Program, and no interest will accrue for that month. An account in good standing will remain active as long as it is enrolled in the program, but the standard APR for the purchase will apply for the following month.

Customers in Los Angeles who need assistance can contact Apple Card support through the Messages app to register.

Apple has offered similar disaster relief program options for those affected by hurricanes and other natural disasters, and this benefit has been available since the launch of the “Apple Card.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook said yesterday that Apple plans to donate to support victims and local recovery efforts in Los Angeles.
