Apple doubles down on privacy after Siri-snooping settlement – Computerworld
In a statement following the resolution of the claim said an Apple representative: “Apple has never used Siri data to create marketing profiles, never made it available for advertising, and has never sold it to anyone for any purpose. Privacy is a fundamental part of the design process, based on principles including data minimization, on-device intelligence, transparency and control, and strong security protections that work together to provide users with incredible experiences and peace of mind.”
Apple’s track record is good
Apple has devoted enormous resources to building privacy protections into its systems. Everything from blocking mode to tools to prevent aggressive ad targeting and device fingerprinting represents a scale of effort, work that touches nearly every part of the company’s ecosystem.
The challenge ahead, of course, is that while Apple may be keeping its privacy promise, not every third-party developer likely shares the same commitment, despite the privacy labeling scheme the company uses on the App Store.
