Apple Has Just a Few Weeks Left to Launch CarPlay 2 in 2024 as Planned

Aston Martin said last year that the next generation of CarPlay would be available in its DB12 sports car, but has not revealed any specific plans. Meanwhile, Porsche tells us it has There are no plans to launch the next generation of CarPlay in the near future As of late November.

Apple hasn’t publicly commented on the next generation of CarPlay in a long time, but preparations are continuing behind the scenes. The next generation of CarPlay is expected to be available only in new cars. It won’t be an update to standard CarPlay.

Apple said in its initial statement that committed automakers include Acura, Audi, Ford, Honda, Infiniti, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Polestar, Porsche, Renault and Volvo. Aston Martin announced later. However, it’s unclear whether that list is still accurate, as some automakers have since expressed hesitation about ceding in-car software experiences to Apple. That doesn’t guarantee the next generation of CarPlay is doomed, but the list of partners may end up getting smaller.

Apple has yet to respond to our repeated requests for comment on the next generation of CarPlay this year, but as of now its website is promising a 2024 launch. Apple and the automaker have 19 days to accomplish the feat.
