Apple Intelligence isn’t changing lives yet, but just you wait

Apple Intelligence was first released to much fanfare in June of this year, and is now finally available in iOS 18.1 and iOS 18.2. But at least one early report says it doesn’t really change the world. That’s why this isn’t surprising, and it’s not conclusive.

In the early days, the influence of Apple Intelligence was not significant.

according to a recent surveysa majority of iPhone users say Apple Intelligence adds “little value” to their smartphone experience.

There is an important caveat, and that is that this survey was New AI features in iOS 18.2 arrived.

That said, I’m not surprised either. Why?

Because by design, Apple Intelligence is designed to bring about slow change that accumulates over time.

Major new products and iterative product enhancers

When you think of most AI technologies produced by other companies, you probably think of a specific AI product.

For example, there are chatbots such as ChatGPT and Gemini. Or AI-powered smart glasses and pins.

Most companies are trying to use artificial intelligence to create “big new products.” That’s not what Apple does, or even intends to do.

Apple Intelligence is built into existing products as simple enhancements. You could say it’s an “iterative product enhancer.”

Here are some examples:

• Apple’s Photos app already has a lot of editing tools, but now it has Clean it up too. It already has a search function, but with artificial intelligence, the search function becomes less important. better than ever.
• Messages already have emojis, but now you can Create custom Genmoji also.
• Spell check and autocorrect are already built into Apple’s system keyboard, but now Artificial Intelligence Writing Tools Also available.
• Notifications are an important part of how we use our devices, and now they (most) better Thanks for the summary.

These features are not game-changing in and of themselves. But over time, their impact will grow.

Whether you know it or not, Apple Intelligence will change the way you use your devices

Because of the way Apple Intelligence is designed to be integrated into existing apps and features, it will inevitably change the way we use our devices.

No one wow feature is going to change the game forever.

But there are tons of little features, and more coming soon, that will continue to enhance and transform our devices for years to come.

The problem is, over time, we may not even realize what artificial intelligence is and what it isn’t. We just use random features on our iPhone, iPad or Mac and benefit from them.

We’re still in the early stages of Apple Intelligence, but its future impact will be undisputed as it will be so closely tied to the basic functionality of our everyday devices.
