Apple is about to refresh its cheapest iPad after 2.5 years, but don’t get too excited – 9to5Mac

Apple last updated its cheapest iPad in October 2022, presenting the largest update for the IPAD base model since its return in 2017. This marked the 10th generation of the iPad, and although 2.5 years have passed since then, the 11th generation model won ‘bring something significant, for one big reason.

Basic confirmed update: new chip

Just as the iPad mini 7, which made his debut last fall, the iPad 11 is also rumored to be just a specification. In particular, according to rumors, it will rise from the bio -onic chip A14 to the A17 Pro chip.

This will increase it from the chip, which debuted in 2020 with the iPhone 12, to one, which made it debuted in 2023 with the iPhone 15 Pro. This update will provide an improvement in speed by about 40%, at least on the processor side.

In addition, it will increase the memory of systemic memory from 4 GB to 8 GB, which will allow better multitasking and much more.

Apple Intelligence is practically confirmed for the iPad 11, which will first bring the latest Apple AI functions to the cheapest iPad. These functions include Genmoji, Image Playground, ChatGPT support and a completely new Siri.

Potential updates

Unfortunately, there are no other remarkable rumors about the update on the table. Colors can change a little, and Apple can increase the connection standards. We could see Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.3.

There is one possible function of the substitute sign: stage manager. Apple introduced a stage manager in the iPados 16, requiring A12X (or more new) iPad Pro, or M1 (or more new) iPad Air. Apple has not yet brought this function to other iPad, but it can be easily argued that the A17 Pro with 8 GB of RAM will be more capable of performing the software function than the A12X chip with 4 GB of RAM. Only time will tell, although.

Ultimately, despite the long gap between the updates, it will simply be another insignificant power of the iPad. One of the large modernization of the iPad in the line in 2024 was the movement of the camera to landscape orientation, but the IPAD base model has already received an update in 2022.
