Apple Maps gets upgraded Yelp experience, more change likely coming
Apple Maps may have had shaky beginnings, but it’s certainly become quite compelling over the years. One area that remains problematic, however, is integration with third-party services like Yelp. But Yelp integration is about to get even better.
New feature lets Apple Maps users request professional service quotes

First, there’s a new “Request a Quote” feature in the Apple Maps app for connecting with service professionals.

To make it easier to connect with professionals, no matter where you’re searching from, our Request a Quote feature is now integrated into Apple Maps. You can easily request a quote from more than 200 professionals in the Home, Local, Auto, Professional and Event categories by clicking the “Quote” button on the Apple Maps business page, which will take you directly to the request a quote process for that business. Yelp app. For those who don’t have the Yelp app installed, this feature directs you to a “Request a Quote” mobile web experience, ensuring a seamless connection with local professionals. This integration brings more high-intent leads to people searching through Yelp.
It’s interesting that Yelp has added a new feature directly to its Apple Maps integration, as Apple has been slowly phasing out Yelp and some of its place listings. The company now uses its own local like-like review method for certain map listings.
More improvements coming to Yelp
Some other changes Yelp announced Not explicitly intended for Maps, but they are expected to benefit Apple users regardless.
Changes include:
- Artificial Intelligence-Powered Review Insights: These “utilize large language models (LLMs) to discern reviewer perceptions of common aspects of a business, such as food quality, service, ambience, wait times, and drinks.”
- More business attributes: “To help you better plan your bill before you arrive at the restaurant, we’ve added eight new business attributes to provide greater transparency into a restaurant’s tipping policies as well as payment policies and available payment methods.”
- Expand reviewer recognition scope: “To further differentiate contributors who are familiar with a specific business type, we now display reviewer endorsements alongside their comments on business pages. This makes it easy to browse the different perspectives in reviews and identify reviewers with experience with businesses in that category .
There are many Other changes Yelp’s iOS app is coming soon and should help provide a better experience for Maps users when they exit Maps and enter the full Yelp experience.
