Apple now selling medical expert-designed Vision Pro accessory that solves top user complaint
Aside from the $3,500 starting price, there’s one common complaint most customers have about the Apple Vision Pro. Apple has teamed up with an unlikely partner to offer a solution that the Cupertino company will sell directly.
Apple-approved comfort band
ResMed, a medical solutions company with more than three decades of experience designing anthropometric accessories, announces a new Apple Vision Pro band designed for long-term use.
Apple offers two straps for the Apple Vision Pro: a single-loop knitted strap and a double-loop strap. While the Solo knit band has a cleaner look, Apple has switched to a double-loop band for AVP demos in stores to address comfort and fit issues.
Still, neither band has done much to alleviate common complaints from Apple Vision Pro customers. Mixed reality headsets may become uncomfortable after prolonged use. Apple recommends taking regular breaks during use to avoid discomfort. However, something as simple as watching a feature film from beginning to end is best enjoyed without interruption. When motivation comes, so do productivity lessons.
Therefore, Apple endorses the ResMed Apple Vision Pro strap and sells it directly through Apple retail channels.
Kontor headband by ResMed
ResMed says its Kontor headband for Apple Vision Pro achieves “the perfect balance of softness and extended-wear support.”
The company says it achieves this by using “ResMed’s exclusive blend of ultra-premium materials, which are designed to be gentle on the skin and allow for further customization of Apple Vision Pro, with the option to use six included modular Counterweight.
ResMed is usually manufactured Sleep and Respiratory Care Medical Devicesinclude CPAP machines and masks for treating sleep apnea and respirators and breathing apparatus. While ResMed may be an unlikely partner for Apple, the company may be uniquely positioned to provide customers with the comfort of the Apple Vision Pro.
“ResMed’s 35 years of expertise in designing headbands and facial interfaces has made it the market leader in creating innovative, effective and comfortable solutions for sleep apnea treatment,” the company said.
“Building on this experience, the Kontor headband brings the benefits of extended wear time to Vision Pro users. ResMed’s products are designed to provide superior comfort and performance to enhance the user experience in the healthcare and technology fields.
Apple started selling ResMed Kontor headband before launch Belkin brand head accessories Vision Pro’s Solo knitted strap is available for $49.95. The Kontor headband is a separate headband, not an add-on, and sells for $119.95 in the US. The inclusion of just six optional modular weights should warrant a higher price tag. A live review from 9to5Mac is expected in the coming weeks.
