Apple reveals the U.S. wireless firms that support RCS on the iPhone ‘s Messages app

and iOS 18, apple Added Rich Communication Services (RCS) support for iPhone. This allows iPhone and Android users (at least Android users using RCS-enabled messaging apps) to share higher-quality images, receive read receipts, view typing indicators, and send larger files. The only RCS feature that iPhone users cannot rely on when using RCS is end-to-end encryption. That’s because The version of RCS Apple chooses to support does not include full encryption.

It turns out that this is how it is in the United States T-Mobile, Verizonand AT&T Supports the RCS protocol, allowing iOS and Android users to share the above-mentioned advanced messaging features during cross-platform messaging sessions or group chats. The number of U.S. wireless providers that now support iOS-Android RCS messaging has increased from an initial 3 to 17. Apple has published a list of all U.S. carriers that offer this support, including:

  • AT&T
  • Enhanced mobility (requires iOS 18.2)
  • C minaret
  • consumer mobile phone
  • cricket
  • First Network
  • H20 wireless
  • Take the subway T-Mobile
  • pure language
  • Red envelope
  • Spectrum movement
  • T-Mobile
  • TracFone / Outspoken
  • US mobile phone
  • Verizon
  • visible
  • Xfinity Mobile

Interestingly, although T-Mobile Although on the list, some of the MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators) it acquired such as Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile are nowhere to be seen. Considering that together they represent about 3 million U.S. wireless users, we can’t think of any reason to permanently exclude these two companies from providing iOS-Android RCS support. T-Mobile There may just not be a chance to set this feature up for Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile customers.

If you use an iPhone and are a customer of one of the 17 wireless providers on Apple’s list, you’ll know if you’re messaging an Android user running Google Messages or another RCS

Check the messaging application by looking for “SMS + RCS” in the text field. If you are currently in the United States and your wireless provider is not on Apple’s list and you do a lot of cross-platform messaging, you can wait for your wireless provider to join the list and then switch to one of the 17 wireless companies on the list , or only accept SMS/MMS quality messages temporarily.

Of all the new features that iPhone and Android users now have as a result of Apple’s decision to support RCS, perhaps the most exciting for iOS and Android users is the ability to receive high-quality images and videos from people on the other team sent to them. Without RCS, images sent from Android users to iPhone users (and vice versa) would be transmitted via SMS and MMS (Short Message Service and Multimedia Messaging Service), both of which use older technology. This explains the horrible images users see without RCS support.

On the other hand, images sent from one iMessage user to other iMessage users always look great, as do images sent from one RCS user to other RCS users. With Apple’s support for RCS, complaints about sending images across platforms should diminish.
