Apple’s next big product may be further away than you think
We’ve long heard rumors about Apple developing some form of AR smart glasses. There’s no progress yet on the Apple Vision Pro, though we now have the Apple Vision Pro, which bears a lot of similarities to potential AR glasses, albeit with a much larger form factor.
However, while companies like Meta and Snapchat have shown off cool demos of augmented reality glasses, from Burundi Report It will take Apple about 3 to 5 years to “find the right approach.”
While Apple reportedly continues to develop its own AR glasses, a launch isn’t coming yet Mark Gurman’s Power On Newsletter:
As far as I know, Apple is continuing to develop smart glasses with augmented reality capabilities, but there won’t be any progress in the near future.
Apple needs to do a lot to make a product like this work. They need to miniaturize many computing components, create sleek designs, provide battery life that makes the product truly useful, and develop high-resolution displays that don’t unduly impact the media experience.
Apple might be able to develop all of these features on a pair of extremely expensive glasses, but probably not in a consumer-friendly product. Companies like Snapchat and Meta have launched AR glasses, but they are not consumer products. Meta’s Spectacles are just a prototype demo, while Snapchat’s Spectacles are only available to developers through the $99-per-month Snapchat Spectacles developer program.
me personally Have a chance Tried out Snapchat’s augmented reality glasses last month – they’re seriously impressive. It has some flaws, such as field of view, but it’s still an impressive demo. However, I do believe that its appearance is a bit too big for Apple.
It makes sense that Apple isn’t ready to release AR glasses yet, but that doesn’t stop it from disappointing.
