Apple today announced that the Swift Student Challenge 2025, which will take place ahead of WWDC, will begin on Monday, February 3. on the developer’s website.

With the Swift Student Challenge, students around the world can show off their programming skills and creativity by developing app concepts using Swift Playgrounds or Xcode. The competition also gives students the opportunity to gain practical skills that can be used in future careers.

Apple is planning to host an online session where students and educators can learn more about participating in the Swift Student Challenge. The session with an Apple engineer will explore the elements of great apps, provide advice from a former Challenge winner, and offer ideas for creating app playgrounds. Apple has also updated the Developing with Swift guides to help students learn the basics of programming.

Apple said it will select 350 winners based on “innovation, creativity, social impact or inclusion.” 50 winners will be invited to spend three days at Apple Park this summer in Cupertino, California. The trip usually coincides with Apple’s annual WWDC event, which is often held in June.

Back in October, Apple warned students that the Swift Student Challenge would take place in February, but the exact dates were not announced then. Applications will open on February 3, 2025 and will be open for three weeks.
