After NUC 14 Pro AI unveiled last fallAsus recently announced that it will be available this month for $850 and up. The company has Also introduced a second version with identical hardware inside. But that’s what’s on outside new NUC 14 Pro AI+ which makes this version unique.
This version of the small computer has a translucent body that allows you to see some of the internal components. And on top is a “multi-color” E Ink display that can be used to display graphics.
Since E Ink screens can display a static image without using power, you can set a logo, image or design that will be visible even when the device is turned off. Asus includes an app for the device that allows “artificial intelligence imaging” to “create unique personal identification designs.”
There’s also an LED light ring around the edges of the top cover, but this will obviously only work when the system is on.
It is not yet known what E Ink color display technology Asus will use and how much more expensive the NUC 14 AI+ will be compared to the standard version of this mini PC. But aside from the body and E Ink screen, the two computers are virtually identical.
Both have fingerprint scanners on the top of the body, as well as power and co-pilot buttons on the front. Both support the 30W Intel Core Ultra 9 288V Lunar Lake processor (there are also Core Ultra 5 and Core Ultra 7 options), and both also support up to 32GB of LPDDR5x-8533 onboard memory, up to 4 TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen SSD 4×4 NVMe, as well as Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
The computers are equipped with a 2.5 GbE Ethernet port with an Intel I226-V controller, as well as Thunderbolt 4, USB 3.2 Gen 2 and Gen 1 Type-A, HDMI 2.1 and 3.5 mm audio ports. The NUC 14 Pro AI and NUC 14 Pro AI+ systems come with a 120W power adapter.
