
Asus Vivobook S14 with Snapdragon X and an OLED display coming soon for $799 and up
Asus Vivobook S14 (S3407QA) is a laptop with a 14-inch FHD OLED or 2.5K IPS LCD display, 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD.
It is also one of the first laptops to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon X (X1-26-100) processor designed for low-cost systems. So even though it won’t cheapest The Windows on ARM laptop will be available in the coming months, with a starting price of $799 making it one of the more affordable options.
Qualcomm’s new entry-level chip for Windows PCs features an 8-core Oryon processor capable of up to 3GHz, a GPU capable of up to 1.7 teraflops of performance, and 30MB of cache. It is the slowest member of the Snapdragon X/X Plus/X Elite family, but it has the same NPU as the others and delivers up to 45 TOPS AI performance.
The Vivobook S14 pairs this processor with up to 16GB of onboard LPDDR5X memory (which is not user-upgradeable) and up to 1TB PCIe Gen 4×4 SSD (thanks to the M.2 2280 slot).
Ports include:
- 2 USB4 ports (40 Gbps with video and charging)
- 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A (5 Gbps)
- 1 x HDMI 2.1
- 1 x 3.5mm audio jack
The laptop also features a backlit keyboard with 1.7mm key travel, a Windows Hello-compatible FHD IR camera with face recognition and privacy shutter, a 70Wh battery, a 65W USB-C power adapter, and Wi-Fi support. -Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3
The laptop measures 315 x 223 x 18 mm (12.4 x 8.8 x 0.7 inches) and weighs 1.37 kg (3 lbs).
Meanwhile, if you’re looking for an even cheaper option, there’s Vivobook 14 (X1407QA)another upcoming laptop from Asus with the same Snapdragon X processor. This model is expected to retail for $700 and up, but it has a smaller battery (50Wh) and is only available with a 1920x IPS LCD display 1200 pixels.
