8. “War for the Planet of the Apes 3”

Nearly seven years later, director Wes Ball has taken over the reins to bring this remake of the iconic franchise to the big screen, drawing on the inspiration of War for the Planet of the Apes. However, this entry jumps forward 30,000 years. Unlike the original characters, the new cast includes protagonist Noah, a young hunting ape who is brought to the fore, although storyline-wise it still follows Caesar’s legacy.
The new ape king, Proximus Caesar, may have inherited the name of his ancestors but preached evil. With the clan enslaved and humanity seemingly returning to a more primitive state, it’s up to Noah and May (a human woman) to determine what happens next to their civilization. It was highly praised for ushering in a new era for the series, with captivating visuals and incredibly impressive performances from its new stars.
7. “A Quiet Place: Day One”

- Director: Michael Sarnowski
John Krasinki directed the first two installments quiet place movie, he handed over directing duties to Pig’s Michael Sarnowski. Still, he’s very involved in the story A Quiet Place: Day One They conceived it together. As a prequel and spin-off, this work takes the series in a new direction – the origins of the alien invasion are witnessed in the once bustling New York City. If you know the series, you know that these aliens feed on noise, so in order to survive, you need to be completely silent, so New York City falls into an eerie silence.
Sam (Lupita Nyong’o) is a terminally ill woman living in a hospice. Just when she’s convinced to go on a group outing to Manhattan, the alien invasion begins and all roads out of the city are cut off. Accompanied by her cat Frodo, she meets Eric (Joseph Queen) and they navigate this new world with hope of survival. The pair’s stellar performances carry forward the core concepts of the first two films while maintaining a deeper exploration of the characters while surviving incredible circumstances.
6. “Alien: Romulus”

5. “Wild Robot”

In a list filled with returning franchises, wild robot This animated adventure from DreamWorks, based on Peter Brown’s novel of the same name, has earned its place in the sci-fi genre.
Back on our list again, Lupita Nyong’o voices Roz, a service robot who finds herself trapped in a world devoid of human life but populated by a large population of local wildlife. Animals on the forest island. Rhodes learned their language in an attempt to form a relationship with the animals, which is no easy task. However, the robot does form a bond with a goose named Brightbill, who is found orphaned and alone, and vows to protect it.
The mix between the robot protagonists and their vastly different environments makes for an interesting watch. She is, after all, a service robot who wants to help but is trying to fit into a place where she doesn’t belong, telling a wonderfully touching story of modernity meeting the wild.
4. “Deadpool and Wolverine”

3. “Transformers One”

As the first animated feature film in the entire series, Transformers One Tried something new and was much appreciated. Serving as a sort of prequel, it goes back to the days before Optimus Prime and Megatron went to war, telling their origin story and exploring Cybertron. Full of humor, stunning visuals and exciting Autobot adventures, this film is one of the best science fiction movies of 2024.

We put it there because this movie completely redefines Cybertronians for a new generation (something Hasbro is very keen to do), but not without respecting the lore.
But while it was warmly received by fans, that sentiment wasn’t reflected in its box office performance. Alas, there may not be a sequel, who knows, but it’s one of the best additions to this beloved series.
2. “Furiosa: The Legend of Mad Max”

When director George Miller brought Mad Max: Fury Road It quickly became one of the most stunning and impressive action sci-fi films in the world, with a score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Continuing filming nearly a decade later was a daunting task, but Miller began the job with a prequel in mind—Furiosa’s story before she met Mad Max.
Young Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) is taken away by a motorcycle tribe led by warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth). As she travels across the wasteland, they come to a castle run by Immortan Joe, another warlord. Here, she must fight for survival between two warring forces. In true Mad Max fashion, Furiosa: The Legend of Mad Max Every bit as unstable, visually captivating, and a downright brilliant cinematic experience. If you miss movie theaters in 2024, don’t worry, today’s TVs are more than capable of bringing streaming platforms to life.
