Boomer shooter dev discovers his dogs have been barking on an “unbearable” loop for years
Sometimes dogs have a hard time shutting up. A year and a half after graduation Tip from early access, developer Earthquake-The inspired shooter fixed the dogs after discovering that some of the fangs were barking in a disgusting and endless loop, according to some players.
“A lot of people complained about barking,” said developer Spytihněv in update post. “There are some negative reviews about it, but I always thought it was just some people who don’t like it when their dog barks when they bark. [firing guns]. Today I discovered that on some PC configurations an unbearable barking appeared in a loop.”
This is what one dog looks like meant to behave in the game. And here is an example of the same dog, but endlessly barking. You can shut your puppy up for two seconds by feeding him until he vomits, but then he’ll just start yapping again. Again, is this also abnormal dog behavior? Who can say. Based on some comments on Steam, it appears that this bug is affecting Linux-based systems.
“It’s a shame that a bug like that was there for almost 2 years,” said the developer, “the levels with rats must have been terrible, even just unplayable, brrr.”
I haven’t played Hroth (to my shame, as a Quake lover), but I know that the “rats” mentioned here are the same puppies that hunt rats in this level. They’re very cute, but for Rick, who wrote our article, that wasn’t the highlight of the game. Tips Review. He preferred the first episode:
“Here the game’s socialist parody and nuclear alarm are perfectly in sync. Walking through Prague’s abandoned streets, gymnasiums and cultural centers, you will come across photographs of Czechoslovakia’s first communist dictator, Klement Gottwald, which you can kiss to show your devotion. nation. Later you will go down into some underground chamber full of dried out corpses, like that Geiger counter. the crashing reaches an irresistible crescendo.”
This sounds very pompous. It’s also a game where you shoot a horse wearing a gas mask with a double-barreled shotgun. This is a game where you fight a Putin lookalike riding a bear. Having completed work on the shooter, the developer turned its attention to the strategy genre, releasing a retro real-time strategy game set on a “sandy planet with horses, tractors and techno music.” It’s called – let me check… ah, Shot.
