Brighter OLEDs and AI integration
Samsung sells more TVs and soundbars than any other AV brand in the world, so when the company announces new products, everyone waits to see what will be revealed.
And Samsung has a lot of plans for 2025. They will bring new 4K and 8K TVs to market with new technologies in its soundbars and, like many other companies around the world, is integrating artificial intelligence into the products and experiences it offers.
We flew to Korea back in 2024 to get a preview of what Samsung will bring to your living rooms in 2025. Unfortunately there won’t be many pictures in this article as we weren’t allowed to take any during the trip.
New and faster processors
In 2024, 8K models received a new processor, and now it’s the turn of 4K screens. The new NQ4 AI Gen 3 processor boasts 128 neural networks, compared to the previous generation which had only 20 neural networks, delivering much faster performance through the use of artificial intelligence.
The 8K TVs will also get the new NQ8 AI Gen 3 processor, which will be twice as fast as the previous one.
More AI-powered features and services
The new 4K TV models will support a range of AI-powered features such as AI Auto HDR Remastering, AI Upscaling, Adaptive Sound and Color Booster. Premium 4K TVs in this range will support Pro versions for improved performance.
Auto HDR Remastering will analyze content depth (to create a 3D depth effect), as well as shape contrast, color and sharpness when upgrading SDR content to HDR. AI Upscaling delivers sharper, clearer, more detailed and clearer images, particularly optimizing the clarity of people’s faces. Color Booster Pro automatically adjusts the color and chroma of an image to improve its appearance. We saw demos of these features in Korea and they all looked very promising.
There’s an AI picture mode that adjusts the picture by detecting the content and brightness of your room and adapting the TV’s performance. Samsung AI TVs will also be able to create wallpapers using AI, allowing you to create a custom image similar to the Fire TV Ambient Experience on Fire TVs.
Samsung also offers AI-powered programming zoom that features sign language pop-ups, focusing on the pop-up window and making it bigger and clearer so people can notice it.
Brighter OLED TVs
You may have already noticed that Samsung Display stated that the new QD OLED In some cases, panels will be able to reach 4000 nits. We weren’t told this exact figure when we were in Korea, but overall the S95F will be 30% brighter than the award-winning one. S95Dwhile consuming the same amount of energy.
In terms of peak and full-screen brightness, we’re told the S95F will be able to achieve over 2,000 nits of brightness (1,650 nits for the S95D), and full-screen brightness will be 390 nits, up from 290 nits before.
The downgraded S90F will have brightness increased from 1,000 nits to 1,300, and full-screen mode now delivers 250 nits of brightness, up from 150 on previous models.
A A little new Tizen interface
Samsung is changing its user interface by 2025 with One UI. You might have previously assumed that this would be a big change that would bring it more in line with the Galaxy smartphones, but from what we’ve seen, that’s not the case.
The interface is pretty much the same as before, but there’s a new settings overlay that’s more reminiscent of the Galaxy series.
The big changes to the Tizen 2025 interface are happening elsewhere. There is an AI recommendation bar that displays content based on your browsing history, location, and hourly viewing. There’s a new Touch to Discover feature that offers additional information about the program you’re watching and the actors involved. Consider it an alternative to Samsung Prime Videox-ray or Apple TV+”s Insight.
TV Plus will offer 3,000 channels and 50,000 videos on demand as it increases the amount of content on the service; while the Art Store will also be expanded to include new Samsung models.
New projectors
We were shown Premiere 5 and 7, as well as the Premiere 8K projector.
Premiere 5 is a compact, portable projector that comes with a stand and is touch-enabled—point an image at a surface and you can interact with it with your fingers. It also supports object detection, automatically reshaping the image if something is blocking it.
The resolution is Full-HD, it has a triple laser source, and the brightness is around 560 ISO lumens.
Premiere 7 supports Q Symphony/OTS/Atmos audio and comes with Samsung’s Gaming Hub for game streaming. You can also adjust keystone via the SmartThings app on your mobile phone.
The Premiere 8K is an 8K DLP projector that produces 4,450 ISO lumens and produces images up to 150 inches in size. 8K/120Hz refresh rate is supported. It also boasts a triple laser source and Wi-Fi 7 support. We don’t have any information on release dates for either of these projectors at the moment.
New flagship subwoofer
In 2025, some new Samsung soundbars will include a new subwoofer. It’s half the size of the previous model, but delivers 300W of power (instead of 200W) from two 8-inch active units. It is expected to be included in the Q990F model in 2025.
Eclipsa Audio from Samsung and Google
Announced in advance CES 2025 (we first talked about this back in 2023), Samsung and Google have teamed up to produce Eclipsa Audio, an immersive 3D audio technology that will be present in all of its new TVs starting with Neo QLED 8K on the Crystal UHD model.
