Butterfly puts Bluesky on your Apple Watch with a beautiful app
Want the latest social networks on your Apple Watch? Let independent developers always find a way. The latest is a brand new client from Bluesky called Butterfly — Fortunately, it has nothing to do with the MacBook butterfly keyboard.
Reuben Catchpole, developer of the watchOS Instagram client Lens, today launched Butterfly for Apple Watch, turning his attention to Bluesky. Here is the app description:
“Butterflies Flying into the Blue Sky” puts the blue sky on your watch. Scroll through your feed, engage with posts, view and send messages, check your notifications, and even compose your own posts – all from your wrist.
It looks like this:
Blue Sky Butterfly works as expected. This is an Apple Watch only app, no iPhone client is required. Install it directly on your Apple Watch and sign in using your watch keyboard, passcode keychain, or iPhone keyboard. Once signed in, the app immediately displays your Discover or Following timeline, complete with notifications, messages, new posts, and controls for viewing searches, profiles, and accounts.
Butterfly is free to download to browse your timeline, with optional in-app purchases to unlock messaging, publishing, and other features. Butterfly is a brilliant solution, coming from someone with a lot of experience bringing social networks to the tiny screens on our wrists. If you are a Bluesky lover, check it out now.
