CES 2025 is now in full swing – and while the big show technically begins today (January 7), it’s the second day of presentations and announcements for the media (including the TechRadar team). It was another hectic day of tech news, so we’re bringing you a roundup of the best bits right here.
As is the case with first day of CES 2025The gadgets and gizmos below will help define the year in technology. We have big news from Samsung, Nvidia And LGplus new smartwatches, robot vacuum cleaners, AI-powered fryers and… umbrellas with batteries attached (perfect for your next beach day).
CES is a tech show, so you won’t be able to buy all of these products at once, but they give us a glimpse of what’s coming later in 2025, so you can start saving now.
That’s not the end of the fun at CES 2025, because tomorrow we’ll have another full review of the hardware for you to dig into…
1. Samsung The Frame Pro TV
- Best Feature: Adding mini-LED technology
We’ve always been intrigued TV frame from Samsung – a TV that doubles as a showcase for works of art – and the newest model was unveiled here at CES 2025. Frame Pro adds mini-LED technology and improves HDR mixed together, and the difference between this model and the 2024 model is simply stunning.
There’s extra brightness and some other tweaks (like an improved refresh rate) that make The Frame Pro a better TV, but it doesn’t lose its appeal when Art Mode is active. We’ll have to test the model more fully, but it looks like Samsung has finally found the right formula this time.
2. Nvidia RTX 5090
- Best Feature: Proper 8K gaming support
We’ve been waiting a long time, but Nvidia’s RTX 5000 series GPUs are finally official, including the top-of-the-line RTX 5090. First impressions: These cards will live up to the hype and pack a ton of power, although you’ll have to pay big bucks to get your hands on them.
The RTX 5090 features 92 billion transistors, next-generation Tensor Cores and Ray Tracing Cores, and more than double the AI processing speed of the RTX 4090 (which was a real beast). Oh, and there’s 32GB of new GDDR7 video memory, making this the most powerful GPU on the planet.
3. SwitchBot K20+ Pro
- Best Feature: Innovative mounting platform
If you’ve ever thought that the key feature missing from your robot vacuum is the ability to bring you a sandwich while vacuuming your floors, check out the new SwitchBot K20+ Pro. It comes with a mounting platform for attachments like fans, security cameras, and trays to bring your lunch straight to you (maybe).
This is a great idea that expands the capabilities of a standard robot vacuum cleaner – it makes sense that it can also do other jobs (like cleaning the air in a room) while keeping everything tidy. The price of the device and its accessories will be decisive, and we will find out later in 2025.
4. LG xboom Stage 301
- Best Feature: Operates on the floor or on a stand
Musician will.i.am is back in the tech game and has partnered with LG to bring us the xboom series of speakers. The best of the bunch right now is the LG xboom Stage 301, which is designed like a stage speaker: it has a corner cut off at the bottom so you can tilt it up like professional musicians do.
But what’s most important is the sound: the 6.5-inch woofer and two 2.5-inch midrange drivers do a very impressive job here, according to our tests at CES 2025. The speaker works both on a stand and on the floor, and its design is versatile enough to suit a range of different needs.
5. Anker SOLIX umbrella.
- Best Feature: Solar powered shade
You know you’re at CES when you look at charging stations combined with objects you wouldn’t necessarily associate with charging gadgets—which brings us to the next question: Anchor A SOLIX umbrella that you can take to the beach to stay on the grill while you soak up the sun.
Or rather, do not bask in the rays if you need an umbrella cover. The umbrella is waterproof and has smart solar panels on top, so you can use the sun’s power to charge your phones and tablets. It also pairs well with other products in the Anker line, including power stations.
6. Amazfit Active 2
- Best Feature: Personal artificial assistant on the wrist
It is now generally accepted that Amazfit is one of the go-to brands if you are looking for a smartwatch that is both feature-rich and affordable, and the new Amazfit Active 2 series continues this trend. The starting price here is just $99.99 (around £80/AU$160), but you’ll get a lot of bang for your buck.
The watch series boasts a stainless steel case, 10-day battery life, offline map support and 160 sports mode options. There are multiple band options and an AMOLED display, and you also get a built-in AI assistant, Zepp Flow, ready to help you with fitness information, watch settings, messaging, and more.
7. Ecobee Essential Smart Thermostat
- Best Feature: Save energy at an affordable price
Ecobee isn’t missing out on the opportunity to have some fun at CES 2025 and has a new Smart Thermostat Essential to show off in Las Vegas. Not only does it detect your home’s heating and cooling rates and has a full-color touchscreen, but it’s half the price of the 4th generation Nest Learning Thermostat. Google published last year.
When it goes on sale in March, it’ll set you back $129.99 (around £100/AU$200). All standard features are included, such as customizable schedules and remote control, and will work with Ecobee SmartSensors if you have them installed. We haven’t had a chance to test this yet, but early signs are very promising.
8. Dreo ChefMaker 2
- Best Feature: Convert Oven Recipes Using Artificial Intelligence
We’re often a little disappointed by AI tricks that don’t actually live up to expectations, but we love the idea behind the Dreo ChefMaker 2 Air Fryer: It uses AI to transform standard oven recipes taken from websites or cookbooks into actual programs that can be used by a machine with changed temperatures and timings.
Until we try it, we don’t know how well it works, but given how good the original Dreo ChefMaker is, we’re hopeful. If you don’t want to rely on AI, there are also 100 pre-programmed recipes available to get you started, and the device seems to offer the usual Dreo build quality and culinary prowess.
9. TCL Game Cube
- Best Feature: Easily rotates in any direction
We saw only a passing mention of TKL Playcube is currently at CES 2025, but we’re very interested to learn more. The portable projector is battery powered so you can move it almost anywhere. It has a “magic cube” design, which means you can easily tilt the projected image in any direction.
And… that’s about all we know: TCL hasn’t provided any pricing or release date information. The previous TCL A1 projector was affordable and came with built-in Google TV software, so we expect the same from the Playcube. Stay tuned to TechRadar for future updates on this.
10. HMD OffGrid
- Best Feature: Satellite connection for all smartphones
HMD OffGrid brings satellite messaging to any smartphone, so you don’t need the latest iPhone to keep in touch with people without Wi-Fi or cellular service. It works as a mobile hotspot that can also connect to satellites and also supports connection to 24/7 search and rescue services.
It all comes at a price, with $199/£169 upfront and a $14.99/£14.99 monthly subscription fee – but for some of you outdoor adventurers out there, it’s worth it costs. HMD hasn’t confirmed which phones this will work with, but we should hear more later this month when the device goes on sale.
11. Flick Duet
- Best Feature: Extremely customizable and versatile
Sometimes the best gadgets are the simplest gadgets, and the Flic Duo is a prime example of this from CES 2025: at first glance, it looks like a simple wall switch, but its two buttons can be programmed in a variety of ways, and how, in addition to receiving button presses, you can also control connected devices using swipes.
So, for example, you can change the brightness of smart lights or move smart blinds up and down by moving your finger over one of the buttons. Not only can it be placed on the wall, but it can also be easily removed and used while walking around the house, making it a versatile and convenient controller for your smart devices.
