According to OpenAI, the latest update to ChatGPT for macOS supports more third-party applications. For example, it can now read content from Apple Notes, Notion, and Quip. In addition, the list of supported applications now includes BBEdit, Android Studio, AppCode, and more. Here is the full list of new applications supported by ChatGPT on Mac:

When the feature launches, it only works with iTerm 2, Terminal, TextEdit, VS Code, and Apple’s Xcode. It can even read the content of multiple applications simultaneously, which is useful when working with developer tools.

For privacy reasons, users can control when and what applications ChatGPT can read at any time. “You have the same control over how this data is stored or processed as you normally have over anything else in your conversation history,” OpenAI said.
