Cheer up! It’s not the end of the world… – Industry – News

THE FORUM REMAINS OPEN. WE HAVE NO PLANS TO DISCONNECT THEM OR BURN YOUR DATA INTO A NEW SYSTEM. ANY FUTURE PUBLICATIONS MENTIONED BELOW ARE NOT PART OF THE MEDIA TEAM, HEXUS OR BIT-TECH.

1998 was a great year for many reasons – watching Titanic in the cinema, yes, it was long and corny, but cinema history nonetheless – and Kate Winslet looked fantastic. Saving Private Ryan was and remains one of the greatest films about war and brotherhood ever made. I laughed my head off seeing Cameron Diaz with THIS hairstyle in There’s Something About Mary and winced at Ben Stiller and his zipper incident in the same movie. I still know the lyrics to the classic B*Witched song “C’est la vie” and to this day I love listening to Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” on a long drive. But it was also a pivotal year for me, as it was for you guys: it was the year I started publishing HEXUS.net.

It was a side project designed to make my parents think I was doing homework, but in reality I was pounding away at the keyboard and writing about AMD’s 3DNOW!, OpenSSL being developed, the founding of VMWare, and the purchase of Intel chips and technologies and the release of the Celeron processor.

Besides these, of course, there were many more stories – oh yes, and Google was also founded in the same year. Illustrious company, right?

But now that HEXUS has become the cornerstone of my life and a constant companion for you guys too, I’m stopping doing that.

They say all good things must come to an end, and I’d like to think that this is one of those good things that must come to an end now too.

To post 148,579 stories, this one is 148,580.th and finally, this amazing, engaged, brave and confident community has been a real pleasure and privilege. What a crowd!

Every comment on the forums made every story, every call (sometimes pleasant, sometimes angry) valuable.

These 23 years would have been nothing without you guys and I offer you my most sincere thanks and appreciation.

The moderators are truly great people – all doing it for the love of technology and the appreciation and respect they have for HEXUS, the little website that helped me get out of my physics homework in 1998. Truly, this group should be given heartfelt praise and recognition. amazing personalities.

I have to thank Tarinder as our editor, every author, every reviewer and tester, and the guys who worked with me on the commercial team – they all contributed to the success and joy of HEXUS and its rogue little modding brother Bit-Tech. network too. To the brands that have supported me and the team on this 23-year journey – thank you to each and every one of you for recognizing what a great publication we’ve produced for a great audience who really care about good technology.

Traveling to the exhibitions was equal parts tiring and exciting. I’ve forgotten how many times I’ve been (let’s be honest, quite sadly) in Hannover and walked the aisles at CeBit, or been dazzled by the spectacle of CES Vegas, or bumped into great tech talent and minds at Computex. It’s all part of the mission to bring you the latest and greatest to know and buy, as well as the occasional unnecessary “innovation” to avoid like the plague!

It has been my greatest satisfaction to have worked with all the major technology brands over the past 23 years. Talking to engineers and architects, asking CEOs and CTOs about the whys of this and not thats, understanding new launches and why and how they will improve our technology experience has been a tremendous benefit for me. Not only because I love technology and have the same opinionated approach as the rest of you, but also because I was able to bring these stories to you. And you guys are the judge of these advancements and changes in technology. You do this by reading HEXUS and deciding whether to spend your hard earned money on something new.

Breaking the processing history of Intel Conroe processors was a thrill for me, and I also have to admit that I enjoyed breaking the weird embargo as well. Watching brands succeed in the technology and cash register space has been inspiring: some brands have grown to become giants, but as with everything, there have been some that haven’t succeeded. But telling you all about runners and racers is 23 years well spent.

As I approach the final curtain, once again and above all I express my greatest gratitude and appreciation to you guys, the audience, the community, the forum members and the moderators – you have made the last two-plus decades exciting and enjoyable – by challenging me. and the team must find the best, ask more questions, and look more deeply at each piece of technology.

To all the lovers and haters over the years – my sincerest thanks – I enjoyed every minute and will never forget what HEXUS started, evolved into and became.

One more thing. When one door closes, another opens. Tharinder and Parm, who I have had the great pleasure of working with for 33 years, will continue the HEXUS legacy with the creation of a new website. Club386.com. Their passion for the industry and high quality editorial and journalistic integrity remains unchanged, and I hope you continue to show them all your love and support.

That’s it, guys.
