Classic ’90s PC racing series Screamer is returning, from the makers of Hot Wheels Unleashed

Back in the mid-90s, I became interested in a PC racing game called Screamer. It got a sequel a couple of years later, and then the series died out. Until now, when he seemingly returned as a sinister anime death-defying racer, once again called simply Screamer. Hm! Hm. You can find the trailer below.

Maybe Will Ed be happy?

The trailer doesn’t show anything in-game, and there’s very little information about the game. on its official website. I knew it was related to the 90’s original just by the logo Milestone Games at the beginning of the trailer. This is an Italian game developer who created the first two games (the first called Graffiti), and more recently is known (better than expected) for the racing game. Hot wheels on the loose and its continuation.

Did the first Screamer have any kind of plot or setting? If there was, I forgot about it long ago. I remember him having great Ridge Racer style car handling, and I remember my brothers and I getting extremely competitive in trying to beat each other’s times. I also remember the rally sequel being less good.

I don’t hate that the new Screamer seems to be going in a new direction. A lot of time has passed, and there was nothing in the original duology that would seem important today. These days you can grab Screamer 1 And Screamer 2 from Steam, although it’s better to just watch a few minutes of the original on YouTube.
