Cooking simulator Galaxy Burger is truly relaxing
Cooking simulators run the gamut of intensity, but if Diner Dash is on the bullet-sweating end of the spectrum, Galaxy Burger is on the other end. Developed by Galactic Workshop, this space-themed burger-flipping game is full of weirdness: space cats, delivery bots, aliens and elf-men are your customers on different planets of our galaxy, rendered in 16-bit graphics.
With every burger shop you open, you meet new customers drawn in different artistic styles. On Venus you will meet many chibi robot kittens, and earthlings living on both Earth and the Moon Rick and Morty-esq. Some clients are shy, but importantly, all clients are calm and relatively easy to please. These burger joints are reminiscent of a college town pizza parlor run by slow but ultimately efficient drug addicts. There’s no rush, so as a player you can really focus on perfectly pairing your burger with your bun or perfecting your ketchup art.
Galaxy Burger The default mode is in which you receive wages and advice on how to correctly complete orders in one day. You know how many clients you’ll see that day from the start of the round, and you can spend as much time as you want in real time to complete it. In short, it’s all the fun of playing Diner Dash or Cooking Mama, without all the stress. However, money serves as a motivating reward – you can use it to unlock new planets (I’ve unlocked Earth for now) and buy coupons to get more tips and speed up cooking times, as well as other buffs that apply in for one day each. .
Online co-op, endless mode and timed mode – where customers rate you on order accuracy. And speed – do Galaxy Burger feels like a full game despite the simple premise. I’m looking forward to updates that might bring more variety to customer dialogue or a challenge mode to play between relaxing rounds in the default mode. But as it stands now, it barely grabs my attention, and I like that it’s created with respect for my time. This has become a staple in my rotation of games that I play while also half-watching a TV episode I’ve already watched and talking to my husband. Oh, is it just me? FINE…
