Within the sacred stone walls of the Sisterhood’s fortress-like headquarters on Wallach 9, Mother Superior Varya Harkonen (Emily Watson) and Reverend Tula Harkonen (Ollie (Via Williams) follower in “The Movie”Dune: Prophecy“They struggle to make sense of the strange events occurring within their organization as internal and external forces seek to destroy their influential legacy.
Sister Jean is one of the Academy’s finest students, displaying astonishing common sense, uncensored intuition and outspokenness to her stoic but flawed mentors Valia and Toula.
Actress Faoileann Cunningham, who had a brief role in director Robert Eggers’s Viking saga “Northerners,” joins an incredible cast in HBO/Max’s six-part prequel miniseries This willful apprentice allowed her to greatly expand her acting range. After being protected by Tula and entrusted with hiding dangerous secrets about Lila’s (Chloe Lea) resurrection and recovery, Sister Jean is at the forefront of this extraordinary series, asserting her position in more ways than one. In a way that may resonate with the newly announced movie.
“It’s very interesting,” Cunningham told Space.com. “Obviously they were challenging scenes, but it was a lot of fun working with these guys and we obviously built a good rapport throughout the series. To be honest, sometimes these things are easier than a big scene with a million people involved I really enjoyed it to structure the day so you could connect with the other actors and do what you needed to do, and it was great that we shot the scenes in order, which made it easier for Chloe and me. Ya’s the same thing, so there’s a lot going on, so you have to readjust, ‘Okay, I didn’t know that five seconds ago.
Deep within the Sisterhood’s stronghold, Sister Lila, possessed by her late mother Aquila, attempts to dissect the cause of Kasha’s death and discover the source of Desmond Hart’s power, in a style and tone reminiscent of the old Universal horror movies, such as “The Bride of Frankenstein”.
“When we went into the cave, Lila was in a lot of pain and obviously struggling with her ancestors, so I think it was our goal to do it in the safest way possible, but really pushing that with the stunt coordinator ,” she pointed out. “The moment the door opens, there’s a fire. And in the following scene, it’s really cool because we haven’t seen such a strong connection between Jane and Lila in a long time like in the early episodes. They It’s head-on-the-bunk beds where they’re always able to have these conversations that really tie into what happened before and boil it down to two friends complementing each other in everything.
Cunningham acknowledged the complexity of Sister Jean’s experience in Dune: Prophecy, which required her to bring all aspects of her personality to the role.
“I think initially what I liked about her was her clowning quality, making people stumble, or making people answer questions they really didn’t want to answer, or playing with people’s own perceptions of the truth,” she explains. “It’s interesting because obviously as an actor you can switch off which parts of these things are really sincere and which parts aren’t. But that will continue until the end of the season. We never know where she is. Just Her loyalty, what she wants out of it, who she trusts and who she doesn’t trust, that’s very attractive to me, so it’s been nice to try to find my part of that stance and reactivity in that. But this is true both on a personal level and on a character level, maturing over the course of the season to be able to accommodate many conflicting ideas.
“When you’re on set with Olivia and Emily, you have to run faster than you’ve ever run in your life, and the same goes for young actors. Everyone has amazing talent and incredible Confident diligence. Thought we would lose the audience.
