Elden Ring Nightreign has removed one of Elden Ring’s most iconic features

Elden Ring Nighttrain will not enable the in-game messaging system because there will be “no time” to read or write messages.

While Nightreign announcement trailer contained many familiar elements such as places of grace and Evergaols, as well as enemies from Dark Souls like “Nameless King” from Dark Souls 3 – Elden Ring Nightreign director Junya Ishizaki confirmed that the studio is stopping in-game communication because sessions lasting about 40 minutes simply do not allow time to be wasted.

“You can still see the ghosts of other players, but the ability to leave messages has been removed,” Ishizaki said. IGN Japan through machine translation.

“The reason we removed the messages feature is because in this game, where each session lasts about 40 minutes, there is no time to write your own message and no time to read messages written by others.”

“The idea was to create a ‘condensed role-playing game.’ Role-playing games have their pros and cons, and players sometimes win and sometimes lose,” Ishizaki added. “I think the best thing about role-playing games is that the whole experience pays off in the end. To create a harmonious experience that allows players to experience the true essence of role-playing games, each game lasted three days.”

Interestingly, this means that defeated opponents won’t respawn during a match – even when you’re resting in a place of grace – and while ash will appear in Nightreign, the way it’s “handled” will be different from the original. Elden Ring game.

The interview also revealed that Miyazaki was involved “right up until the initial concept” of Nightreign, but has since given way to a new director who has been with FromSoft since 2011.

“Nightreign, a spin-off of Elden Ring, is a very exciting game that will keep players interested,” concluded Ishizaki. “This will provide a sense of accomplishment and joy that is different from previous games, so please look forward to it.”
