Game development is one of those things I’ve always dreamed of doing, but I’ve only tried it a handful of times and I always felt like I’d never be able to make something unique because I felt like I lacked the resources (assets) to do it. Before I got my hands on the asset store, it was limited but worked well for someone who knew next to nothing about characters and such.
I’m working on a game called Vindicta with a friend. This video game is heavily influenced by games such as Left4Dead2 and BioShock. It consists of a sci-fi first-person shooter in which the protagonist is a boy who travels far away from home, and when he returns, the worst thing happens: a virus takes over the city.
The gimmicks of video games are very basic, we can shoot, regenerate health, get more ammo, double jump, etc. Creating a game from “scratch” has been a great experience and I’m really looking forward to getting more into this world of game development. This can be annoying and frustrating at times, but it’s part of the job.
