Fitbit’s Cardio Load and Target Load now coming to more smartwatches
along with Pixel Watch 3Fitbit launched two new features: Cardio Load and Target Load. These metrics are rolling out now to Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2as well as a large number of Fitbit smart watches and fitness tracker.
Cardio Load is a useful feature that measures the stress on your cardiovascular system during exercise and daily activities. This is a numerical score that increases throughout the day. This feature helps you track your progress, but Google also uses it to help you avoid overtraining.
Basically, cardiorespiratory load takes into account not only the duration of exercise, but also its intensity. It recognizes that higher intensity exercise places greater demands on the heart. Overall, you experience more cardiorespiratory load during longer, more strenuous activities, depending on your heart rate during exercise.
The second feature currently rolling out is target loads. This supplements your cardio load, which is basically the recommended range for your daily cardio load. It takes into account your fitness level, recent activity and how well your body is recovering. After wearing the wearable for 7 days and 7 nights, your first target load will appear.
The expansion pack will be released alongside Pixel features launching in December 2024. The new feature began rolling out on December 9, and more Fitbit users have received the cardio and goal load features in recent days.
The following is a list of supported wearable devices:
- Pixel Watch 1
- Pixel Watch 2
- Pixel Watch 3
- Fitbit Inspire 2
- Fitbit Inspire 3
- Fitbit Deluxe
- Fitbit Sense
- Fitbit Sense 2
- Fitbit Versa 2
- Fitbit Versa 3
- Fitbit Versa 4
- Fitbit Charge 5
- Fitbit Charge 6
If you’re wearing a Pixel Watch, you can view these metrics directly on your wrist: they’re now in your Fitbit, or through complications or Tiles. Fitbit users will need to look for the new “Cardio Load” card under the “Activity” heading in the Android and iOS apps. Make sure your Fitbit app is updated to the latest version to view these two new metrics.
As someone who trains frequently and plans to train more, I find these features very useful. Even if I don’t specifically notice the effects of training and the stress it may cause on my body, monitoring my body’s response to training can give me insights. So thank you Fitbit for releasing these cool features to more people!
