G.Skill announces Trident Z5 DDR5-6600 32GB memory kits

Activity in the DDR5 memory space is growing as we get closer to the release of the first consumer desktop platforms that support it. Back in May, Bit-Tech reported Corsair teases future DDR5-6400 RAM sticks, but G.Skill has just pushed them into the shadows by announcing DDR5-6600 CL36-36-36-76 memory kits with a capacity of 32 GB (2×16 GB).

The new memory kits will be part of the G.Skill Trident Z5 memory kit line. G.Skill says its new DDR5-6400 kits are the “world’s first DDR5 memory kits” and the company has confirmed they feature the “extreme speed and low latency DDR5-6600 CL36-36-36-76.” It goes on to note that many competitors ship DDR5 memory with CL40-40-40 timings, as well as lower standard data rates.

The creation of the Trident Z5 DDR5-6600 32GB memory kits follows a familiar story, one we’ve heard from G.Skill over the years. It sources high-performance Samsung DDR5 chips and selects them to create corresponding, proven kits. G.Skill believes this process makes its memory kits “the best performance choice for gamers, enthusiasts and overclockers.”

Sometimes G.Skill publishes a product matrix for its RAM kits, but today it looks like only the Trident Z5 DDR5-6600 32GB memory kit has been announced. However, it is highlighted that when the Trident Z5 family starts rolling out, there will also be a Trident Z5 RGB series with a translucent RGB light strip optimized for seamless illumination over the sticks. Non-RGB LED models have a sleek black top panel.

We do not have pricing or availability information at this time. Such information would be welcome, as DDR4 memory of the same capacity is expected to cost up to 50 percent, not to mention the premium products sold by G.Skill.
