It was announced at CES that Nvidia will soon be bringing its native GeForce NOW app to Valve’s Steam Deck. This announcement comes alongside all of the major discoveries the company presented at the show, including RTX 50 Series GPUs, new gaming laptops, DLSS 4 with multiple frame generationand much more.
The cloud gaming service can already be used on Valve’s portable gaming PC through a browser inside SteamOS, but having its own app should make the process much easier.
“The portability of Steam Deck combined with GeForce NOW opens up new possibilities for high-quality gaming everywhere,” says Nvidia. “The built-in GeForce NOW app will deliver up to 4K resolution and 60fps with high dynamic range on Valve’s innovative portable Steam Deck when connected to a TV and stream from GeForce RTX-powered gaming devices in the cloud.”
A release date for the Steam Deck app has yet to be announced, with Nvidia only giving a release timeline of “later this year.”
At the same time, Nvidia also announced that Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest 3 and 3S, and Pico virtual and mixed reality headsets will receive GeForce NOW browser support later this month with version 2.0.70.
Moreover, India is being added as an officially supported region for Nvidia’s cloud gaming platforms. “GeForce RTX-powered gaming in the fast-growing Indian gaming market will provide the ability to stream AAA games without the latest hardware,” the company says. This follows the expansions of Japan, Colombia and Chile, which occurred in 2024.
GeForce NOW will be released in India in the first half of 2025. Pricing details have not yet been disclosed.
Finally, two upcoming games from Microsoft-owned studios are now confirmed to be the first to support GeForce NOW. This is an upcoming fantasy RPG from Obsidian. Recognizedand also developed by id Software DOOM: Dark Ageswhich brings back the Doom Slayer for an action-packed origin story.
