
Geospatial intelligence – Maxar wins $14.4m Netherlands contract
The American company won a contract worth 13.6 million euros ($14.4 million). In particular, the Dutch Ministry of Defense has signed a four-year subscription to the Maxar geospatial platform (MGP) Pro.

As part of the deal, Maxar data will be used by the Netherlands Defense Geographic Agency (DGA) and its mapping, intelligence and operational missions.

MGP Pro includes a 125-petabyte archive of Maxar imagery spanning 20 years. WorldView Legion images (right), as well as the ability to task satellites, access 3D data, and apply artificial intelligence capabilities to detect objects and monitor changes.

Maxar has an office in London but is headquartered in Westminster, Colorado, near Denver.
According to the company, the Dutch will have access to a collection of images covering an area of 3 million square kilometers. These are daily images with a resolution of 30 cm. It contains more than 6 billion square kilometers of archived images with a resolution of up to 30 cm. And its latest satellites – WorldView Legion (pictured above) – allow up to 15 repeat visits to a location per day with <1 accuracy .5 m root mean square error, the company claims.
In May 2023, a private investment company Advent International bought Maxar Technologies and bought it back for $6.4 billion.
Advent and Maxar previously announced they have entered into a definitive merger agreement.
