Gift ideas for the Apple fan who has everything
Apple reporter Bridget Carey shares some of her favorite accessories and gear that make great gifts—especially for iPhones and Apple fans who have everything.
We don’t talk enough about the products that can make your iPhone experience cooler, because yes, it’s a tool, but we forget about the fun side of technology and how it can eat pizza and sometimes even make a face every week . I’m working on this Apple video series, which means I’m encountering a lot of Apple-related tech gear right now. It’s December. You may be looking for gift ideas. So let’s do an episode that highlights some of my favorite things. There is no sponsorship here. These are just products that I think are fun, and there are both cheap joys and expensive joys on my list. So it’s going to get wilder as we go forward. I’m Bridget Kelly and that’s another thing. I love these cute Pokémon phone cases. Nowadays, it’s difficult to buy a phone case as a gift if you don’t know the model of someone’s phone. But you know what, there are other ways to attract your friends. Everyone is singing about cell phone straps, and this one is a wiggling little smoke singing. $21. It attaches to a thin phone case, but now nearly every case maker sells a way to wear your phone. If you want something bigger, consider carrying your phone as a crossbody strap on my last vacation. I get a lot of use out of these. This is a velvet caviar strap because I just want my phone to be by my side taking pictures. They sell for $30.40. But if you want something a little more luxurious, we have the Bandelier strap, which costs over $100, and this particular strap also comes with storage. So it’s kind of boom, boom, there’s nothing to hide. Another charming idea for carrying, the Apple Watch charm. The company is named after it and makes something called band candy. You can buy a sleek silicone bracelet and charm set for $35, and there are different types of charms. They just pop up with holes. There are many mag-safe iPhone accessories. Now, if you have a magsafe box, you no longer have to stick it to a pop socket and leave it there for life. I know some people still do that, but you know, the popular sockets with the sticky part that you can take off and attach to the magnetic adapter, we’re not squeamish anymore. We now have a $55 Stormtrooper helmet on our phone, and I put it on the list because it just makes me laugh. In 2024, popular sockets are still going strong, and one of them can be sold for $55, but a more practical option is the enclosed snap stand. Now, this tripod is perfect for travel. They just appear out of nowhere. They fold a little, they curve a little, and you can put your phone anywhere. Prices start at $40. There are now versions that can hold several cards like a wallet. But my favorite is the version without the pad inside. So you can use a pen to take notes. I’m not lying to you. This is real pen and paper. It’s connected to my iPhone. This is the best invention of the year. You can put regular paper or sticky notes on it and that might be what we need to treat brain rot. OK? Now we’ve entered the not-so-cheap chapter as we’re looking at creative ways to charge your devices because no one wants to deal with a tangled mess of wires, especially when you’re traveling. Now, this is the Butterfly se from 12 South, it’s a compact 2-in-1 charger, so you plug it into the wall, open it up on one side and it holds your iPhone and the other side holds your watch, It comes in interesting colors. This is $100. This is super juice. She’s 22 and has a magnetic charging stand. It can take care of your phone and watch, you just put it next to your hotel bed, very light and easy. I’ve seen it cost about $75. Now, if you also need to charge your air pods, Hyper offers a 3-in-1 option. Although it’s $15 more expensive, it’s not heavy. So it won’t weigh down your luggage. What do you use to plug all these things into the wall? Are you tired of having to deal with a dozen different charges all the time? Rolling bricks. Well, I hope you don’t get sick again. I hope you are happy. This is your charging companion at your desk. This is the most important star 65. It has a pair of small glowing eyes. All you need to do is charge your Macbook and charge your iPhone. Never be sad again, because all chargers should have the little Mac Warrior face. OK? What if your iPhone case matched your luggage? You say it’s impossible? Oh, chances are I’ll be carrying a suitcase with me now. It’s a stretchy suitcase with stretchy bumpers at the corners, just like its iconic iPhone cases. You can customize it. Mine says hello, but you can choose other letters and/or words, and there’s even a little pocket inside to slip an aviation tag tracker into. Now it doesn’t have Touch ID. It has a locking zipper. This luggage starts at $400. It’s like wearing a drop-resistant iPhone case for your entire life. But what do you get? Apple fans who have everything will not be impressed by these trivial gadgets. I came across a product this year that I think is the ultimate tech product of 2024. It can be controlled by my apple. It syncs with Siri, but it has its own voice assistant called Rocky. This is a more useful robot than any rumored robot. Apple should provide us with a product like this because it’s a vacuum cleaner that can make video calls. This is the Robo Rock S 8 max B ultra. It’s a true home assistant that will humble any Apple fan. It responds to the wake word. Hello Loki. Hello Loki. I’m here. Start cleaning. The restored artificial intelligence and onboard camera can identify 73 different obstacles to avoid, and you can use it as a security camera or pet camera and chat through the vacuum cleaner while you’re away. It even takes photos of pets while cleaning the house. Now, there are rumors that Apple is developing some kind of home robot, but it seems more like a rotating home speaker and screen. It’s worth reminding that tech companies can use artificial intelligence to actually make our lives better and healthier, not just rewrite emails for us. If you are willing to pay $1500. I mean, hey, it’s cheaper than the Vision pro. I hope you find these products interesting. Happy holidays and happy gift hunting. I’ll catch you next time.
