Gladiators Season 2 Potential Release Date, Trailer, News and Events
Last year, one of the biggest sports series of the 90s made a triumphant return. The first season of BBC’s Gladiators featured fanfare, lycra and crazy games like Duel, Hang Tough and The Wall at their finest. The result was the BBC’s biggest television launch in seven years.
Father and son television duo Bradley and Barney Walsh took over hosting duties while the elite athletes adopted alter egos and became formidable opponents for the competitors and great entertainment for fans at home.
The first season concluded at the end of March 2024, and after the celebrity show aired in the new year, all eyes are now on the second season of Gladiators. Here’s what you need to know.
When will Season 2 of Gladiators be released?
Unfortunately, the BBC has yet to say when Gladiators will return after 2025. However, we expect that the wait will not be long.
The first season of the show began airing on January 13, 2024, and the first full trailer for the new part was presented on January 2, 2025.
In addition, the official Gladiators Instagram account says the new series will be available on iPlayer from January, although this may refer to a Celebrity Special. BBC iPlayer teases that the new season is “coming soon.”
Based on all this, we Expect the second season of Gladiators to begin airing in early 2025, most likely either later in January or during February.

Another BBC reality hit Traitorsis expected to end on Friday, January 24, 2025. So it might make sense for the Beeb to schedule Gladiators to debut the following day, Saturday, January 25, as they’ll have a larger audience to promote in the last few episodes. from a series of hits about betrayal.
Of course, this is just an estimate – we will confirm the official release date as soon as it is announced.
Which gladiators are returning?
All Gladiators except the first will return for a second season. This:
- Athena – Karenjit Kaur Bains
- Bionic – Matty Campbell
- Comet – Ella-Mae Rayner
- Diamond – Livy Sheldon
- Electro – Jade Packer
- Four – Montell Douglas
- Fury – Jodie Ounsley
- Giant – Jamie Christian Johal

Unfortunately, King of the Wall and sprinter Nitro (Harry Akins-Ariity) was forced to sit out the new series due to a knee injury.
In addition, the cast will be slightly larger this year.
Who are the new gladiators?
The BBC has confirmed that two new Gladiators will be joining the cast, and we get a sneak peek at them thanks to trailers and teasers.
We know that we have one man and one woman, but we have not seen their faces. However, Reddit noticed that during the trailer on Instagram, the male gladiator appears to be holding a giant hammer like Thor’s – a prop that hopefully won’t be allowed during the competition.

The BBC will likely reveal more about the new additions in the coming weeks.
What’s new in Gladiators season 2?
Fans of the original series will be happy to hear that Atlaspheres is returning. This was shown in the official trailer, with competitors and gladiators fighting in giant spherical cages (or hamster wheels, if you will).
Opponents must reach certain points on the court, and Gladiators strive to block them.
The trailer also shows off a brand new sprint-based event that looks like competitors must capture the flag while being chased by a gladiator. The trailer shows Fire, one of several former sprinters, taking part in the event, so it won’t be easy.
You can see both events in the trailer below:
The footage and celebrity special featured the return of events such as Duel, Hang Tough, Gauntlet, Power Ball, The Edge and Collision. The New Year’s edition saw changes to the Gauntlet, adding an additional Gladiator, meaning opponents will have to overcome five obstacles rather than four.
This was the case in the original series, and it’s a welcome change considering that most of the participants completed the game in series 1.
Who won the first season of Gladiators?
After ten weeks of ordeal, with several competitors forced to withdraw due to injury, it came down to the finals.
The women’s title was played by Bronte, a native of Sheffield, and Marie-Louise from Dublin. Meanwhile, the men’s final pitted Leeds-born Wesley – an understudy for another opponent who had to withdraw – against Edinburgh’s Finlay.
In the end, Marie Louise and Finley were victorious, reaching the top of the dreaded travelator first.

Will Gladiators return for a third season?
The BBC has not announced whether Gladiators will return for another season after the next one airs.
The first season was a big success for the BBC, so it will probably depend on how the second season turns out. If all goes well, we won’t understand why it was cancelled.
We’ll know more when the show returns—if bids are open for another season, the show will likely return in 2026.
