While exploring the Google app on iOS, we noticed something interesting. A new pencil icon sits neatly in the search box. Clicking this icon will open a new page with a text box and some suggestions, as shown in the screenshot below.
When you start typing in this text box, you’ll see Gemini The diagram below and the text “Generating Artificial Intelligence Suggestions”. Once there are enough words in the field, it will automatically start generating suggestions based on your query. You can then select these suggestions to narrow your search, just like a filter.
You can see an example of our request for help purchasing a gift in the video above. The resulting suggestions offer options such as “Budget,” “Gift Occasion,” and “Relationship with Recipient.” So you can select “Friends,” “Under $50,” and “Birthday” to get results for affordable birthday gifts for your friends.
However, the feature still appears to be in beta testing as it doesn’t yet work properly. In the video below, you can see that the feature struggles to work.
This feature may save users some time as they don’t have to enter these commonly used keywords to get the results they are looking for. Thanks to @TechA7mad on X (formerly Twitter) for sharing this discovery with us.
