Google A new offensive has been launched Online collaboration A new service has been launched on the market that makes it easier to migrate Microsoft Teams conversations to your own chat service.
“We are expanding our data migration experience to allow Google Workspace admins to migrate conversations from: Microsoft Teams to spaces in Google Chat,” the company noted in a Google Workspace update blog post make the announcement.
The hope is that businesses will be able to deploy Google Chat more easily by reducing downtime during the transition.
Teams to Chat migration now easier
In Google Chat’s Chat Migration menu, administrators can connect to the other party’s Microsoft account to import Teams data. Migration maps and identity maps can be uploaded as csv files, and administrators can optionally enter a start date for messages to be migrated.
“You can also perform an incremental migration, which will migrate all messages added to the Teams channel since the main migration. Messages that have been successfully migrated will be skipped,” Google added.
Administrators can also generate reports based on completed migrations to identify what was skipped, failed, or warned.
In addition, this feature requires that the person performing the operation must be a Google super administrator and a Microsoft Teams global administrator.
Google says the feature is now available to all Google Workspace users, but a screenshot of the sharing process shows a “Beta” icon next to the “Chat Migration” title. Technology Radar Pro Google was asked to confirm if the feature is now generally available or if it’s still in beta, but we didn’t immediately get a response.
Although Microsoft has addressed a complaint that bundling Teams into Microsoft 365 puts rivals at a disadvantage, the company still faces distrust from rivals.
Companies that still need to use these two platforms (and/or other platforms) should consider enabling Mio. Google declare Interoperability with Teams and Zoom will be implemented using this third-party service in early 2024.
