Google Drive update adds important change to video playback

Google recently rolled out a new update for Drive that introduces a very important change, the ability to play videos as soon as they are uploaded to the web. This is one of the most popular features and completely eliminates the waiting time between uploading and playback.

The changes announced a few days ago have been delivered to users registered in Rapid Release domains, but others won’t see it until the program begins rolling out on January 2, 2025.

The latest update builds on Recent Google Drive changes This includes a smoother, more modern video player. Now, Google Drive users on the web will be able to watch videos immediately after they are uploaded while they are still being processed.

In terms of availability, Google announced that the new feature is available to all Google Workspace customers, individual Workspace subscribers, and those with personal Google accounts.

In related news, Google Announcing an update to group keyboard shortcuts. To make web forums more accessible, Google is adding updated keyboard shortcuts. While you can still use the old and new shortcuts until early 2025, only the new shortcuts will work after that.

The old shortcuts are expected to stop working on January 13, 2025, but only if the rollout of the new shortcuts is completed by then. This content should be available to all Google Workspace customers, individual Workspace subscribers, and users with personal Google Accounts.
