Google is working on several other improvements for Google messages.
From time to time, you can accidentally send the text to the wrong conversation or wish that you can return it. Imessage and WhatsApp do this easily, allowing you to delete messages for everyone. Nevertheless, Google does not have enough messages, offering only the possibility of editing sent texts. The teardown @Sassemblebug expert found the code and lines that refer to the “Delete for all” option in the last beta -version of Google Messages (V20250131_02_RC00). This function, according to, will work the same way as whatsApp – if you delete the text for everyone, recipients will see the label “Message deleted by its author”.
Based on the line “Messages by others can be seen in the old versions of applications”, the option will require all the recipients of the messages to be on the latest assemblies of Google Messages, and will not work on older versions of the application. Although this is not mentioned, Google will probably have a time limit to delete sent messages. On WhatsApp you can delete messages within two days after sending them.
Currently, the removal of the sent message in Google’s messages only removes it from your own chat without canceling it for the recipient. Please note that whenever the ability to delete the text is produced in Google communities, it will be limited by RCS chats.
The ability to withdraw the sent text is part of the Universal Profile RCS 2.7, which was released at the end of June 2024. It seems that Google is preparing support for new functions that the standard adds.

Right now, Google Messages and Imessage Apple manually process reactions to texts, which leads to inconsistent and buggy experience. It will also improve spam reports, extending it to one conversation.
Google is also working on supporting RCS interchange experience and recently made a serious direction to safe cross-platform text messages, adding support for a new standard for encryption of messaging (MLS).
There is still no time scale when Google deploys messages or implement other improvements from Universal Profile 2.7. However, since the company is already working on these functions, they must arrive earlier than later.
